Latest Cycle World : MotoMorini Corsaro 1200, beauty of a bike, 107 mm bore , 66 mm stroke. 11.8 to 1 compression , overhead cams , breathes thru two 54mm throttle bodies [V Twin of course] claiming 140 HP @ 8500 rpm , 9K redline. 90 foot pounds torque @ 6500 rpm. The crank , rod , and piston assembly weighs almost 16 lbs , convert it to air cooled , plant it in my City Cross equals recipe for overstimulation , thus illegal. Currently no plans to bring the MotoMorini stateside projected cost would have been 14,850. | ||

Just spent 15 minutes at their web-site. WOW!!! What an engine!! Anybody want a lightly used '05 Firebolt? Me wants a Corsaro 1200 in Black/Gunmetal Gray. No US sales. Damn, damn, damn!! So back to my plans of 90 cu.in., etc.. | ||

In their former incarnation, MotoMorini used to make some really cool small displacement air cooled V-twins (350 cc, 500 cc) and I've read that at one point Harley looked seriously at buying the company to expand their line (maybe back in the late 60's or early 70's). Cool bikes then; cool bikes now. | ||

That swingarm on the last picture sure looks dangerously weak. It looks like they changed it to something stronger in the above picture, but I would be scared to really beat up on the last pic. Bubabuell I think you might be on to something. Reliability issues are something that Buell will always wrestle with because of the earlier models, so it is kind of the pot calling the kettle black. | ||

Are you sure, DJ? I thought the last pic was a Morini test bike. Regardless it's a looker IMO. Albeit one that'll never come across the pond along with the KTM Super Duke. Bummer. | ||

Bimota makes some crazy bikes! I wish I could post the pics that I found from work. There is one Bimota that has a swingarm set up in the front and rear of the sportbike! It is pretty cool. The frame is pretty much an inverted C to connect to both swingarms and it has no forks. I believe I've seen a BMW cruiser with a similar set up. | ||

Ya the Bimota DB5 is the one I was talking about with the funky red cans. Don't know why the pic I posted has no fairing n different cans but it's supposedly the same bike. | ||

I can't remember which Aprilia model it was, but one of them looks really similar to the front of that DB5. I think it is the very geometric lines of the front end that make me think of Aprilia. Maybe it is an Italian thing. Maybe it was the crack like rocketman said. | ||

Olin, I take it you're referring to the almost chisel nose shape of the fairing top half on the RSV Mille if viewed from side profile. Nothing else on that Aprilia or of any other model could be close enough to resemble a or part of a Bimota DB5. Crack you say? More like 'shrooms to me That said, isn't the DB5 stunning. Rocket | ||

I must admit, I read the article in CW and really liked the bike. I'd love to test ride one. I'm still a sucker though, for the simplicity of an air cooled V Twin. | ||

Got to agree with the air cooled engine, simple and compact, also cannot give up the City Cross urban assault attitude. To qoute A. Enstien " simplicity is the result of profound thought" I think this applies to Buells , if nothin else they sure are fun. |
