I didn't know you could order custom colors like that. New one on me too. I'd like to find out more info on that. The only 'custom' colored S2 I remember was an all black bike built for Hal's to turn into a racebike. Black (straight black) bodywork, frame. 1313 |

I was told and read that custom colors could be ordered from Buell in 1995. The cost was outrageous though around $1000, if I remember correctly, but a neat option at that. If someone else can verify it that would be cool. I was the 2nd owner of the bike and bought it from a private individual down on the Carolina coast. |

Not sure if that blue S2 shown further above is a "special order" paint. My first 95 S2 came with the stock sapphire blue paint job you see below. It looks to be the same color...

>>>>I was told and read that custom colors could be ordered from Buell in 1995. That's an inaccurate statement. >>>i believe Courts S2 is a factory metal flake green. That's an accurate statement. The S-2 was painted in Amazon Green, along with te bags anbd fairing lowers, as part of a test program. Buell was considering a green (you all know the story of green vehicles) bike for 1997 and wanted to experiement. The bodywork was prepared and sent to the Topeka shop. After it was installed I did a series of cross county (Topeka to Honda Hoot, Topeka to BMW national, Topeka to Ft. Worth, Topeka to Eureka Springs, Topeka to Pocono) jaunts and kept an eye on who and how the bike was perceived. Color came out in 1997 but by them I was jetting around (see Motocyclist magaizne of photos of the first Buell to circle the Daytona banking) on a custom all carbon fiber and purple 1996 S-1 that would lay the ground work for some future projects. |

I have to admit its been a treat to have the S2 back on the road. I'd forgotten how plush the ride was compared to the Duc. Last night was a 'shakedown' work commute and it behaved quite well despite the presence of gas probably 9 months old. The exhaust tube from the rear cylinder put a bite on the Carhart's. There's a reason for that heat shield! We'll have another ride tonight. Kinda nice taking the long way home through the city. Minimal traffic and industrial scenery that fits riding an American made motorcycle. Nothing quite like riding past the A-B brewery and smelling all that beer cookin' or down shifting for the turn south and hearing the V-twin echoing off the brick walls. ...thanks Tom for the body work, thanks Jim for understanding... |
