Hello Bueller's I've recently just bought my first bike which just happens to be a 2005 Buell Firebolt XB9R. I also had the pleasure of riding with many of you at the BRAG Appalachian Adventure in LaVale, Maryland this past week. It was a pleasure to meet and ride with all of you! Looking forward to the next BRAG event. Anyway, my question.......I'm thinking about buying the Pro-series Race Kit for my XB which includes....high flow air cleaner....Silver ceramic muffler...and a year-specific Race electronic Control module($620.). At the moment they say my stock bike has 70ftlbs of torque with 92hp. What kind of increase in HP and Torque will I get with the Race kit??? | ||

it will make the bike run better and sound better. you will like the pro series race kit. now about "the numbers" you will not see in increase in those "numbers" because they are fictions. with stock cams,heads and pistons you will not get anything close to 92 horsepower to the ground. get the race kit, and enjoy the ride. more to life than numbers........ have fun. dean | ||

Nice bike. The numbers 92hp and 70fpt provided by dealers and the literature from the factory are crank figures not rear wheel (where it matters) I believe. Can anyone verify this? | ||

Churms., The weather is killing me. I just picked up my new 12R last week, and as soon as I got her back here, the sky opened up. I’m praying for a few beaks this weekend, even if it’s only for a couple hours here or there.... Lastcyclone, Yeah...those are crank numbers, but I believe that’s how all bikes are marketed! | ||

From an earlier Cycle World evaluation of the Pro Series XB Race Kit; on their XB9R peak torque went from 59.6 to 64.3 foot-pounds and peak horsepower from 75.9 to 80.8. | ||

Lastcyclone, you're dead on about the numbers being at the crank. My 02 Cyclone "advertised" 91 hp. When I first got it, I had it Dynoed. Put out 73Hp and 67 ftlbs at the rear wheel. Most manufacturers give at the crank numbers, because they are higher. I did some mods to the M2, now it puts down 91hp and 84 ftlbs at the rear wheel.  | ||

Churms, welcome to Badweb! I haven't done anything to my XB9S yet, but if the race kit helps your Bolt as much as it did my Cyclone you will notice a big improvement. The sound is much better too. | ||

I have not seen a dyno for a race kitted 9 for a while but it seems to me it moves the torque peaks up to a much higher rpm range.It feels to me as if you have lower than stock torque up to about 4k with the power really comming on about 5500 i am considering dumping the race kit muffler for a drummer my self to reclaim the low end torque. note this is just seat of the pants feel from a race kitted xb9sx Bob | ||

Numbers schmumbers! Get the race kit...sounds great, runs great, increases the grin factor substantially, lets the idiot cagers know you are riding right beside them so hopefully they won't run in to you when they change lanes without looking... | ||

Race kit for the tubers was a good investment, not so for the XB's. The " DRUMMER" is by far a better all round slip-on than Buell's race slip-on. Comes on sooner and dyno's higher all the way thru the RPM range, with a flatter torque curve. Did I mention it also sounds better....Charlie | ||

pick up the chip and filter get a drummer d&d or an odie's you'll keep that low end torque |
