Hi, Yesterday I found oil all over the bottom of the engine and on top of the exhaust. Because I couldn't find the source I cleaned the bike. I also had no oil under the bike in the morning. Today I found the source(s?). It was the return line from the oilcooler(mainsource) and a little bit from the feedline. here are the pictures Now my questions. Because it is both lines, is there something wrong with the cooler itself? How can I fix it myself? I don't want to bring it to the dealer, because I need it every day for commuting. I hope somebody can help me. Thanks Rene |

I had a leak similar to that on the return line in your first picture. It is a "flair" fitting. I tried tightening the fitting but it didn't stop the leak. So I put a new return line on and that stopped the leak. Good luck! (Message edited by tim on August 23, 2005) |

Thanks Tim, I drove by my dealer, and they fixed it yesterday on warranty. Somehow both lines got loose. Thanks Rene |

I have the same issue. The next oil change I do I'll be removing my header and applying teflon tape to all of the oil fittings at the front. I'll probably also drop my oil pump and check the drive gear... |

Man! I had the same oil leak too! Took it to the dealer and it sat waiting for part for 2 weeks. missed some gorgeous riding weather. |

Teflon tape will seal up the threads on the fitting that goes into the block and oil pump. It will not stop a flair fitting leak. This was my experience on the XB9S. (Message edited by tim on October 13, 2005) |
