So I am fortunate enough to have a step-brother that does auto body and painting, and I want him to put a custom paint job on my XB12R. When I talked to him he pretty much told me to find the code for the paint that I want and bring the plastics down to him. That is where I'm having a bit of an issue. Where can I research paint colors and codes? Any cool colors you guys have seen lately? Here is a pic of my bike. I'm having him paint all of the plastic including the pulley cover, oil cooler cover, rear fender and air scoops on both sides. I haven't gotten my right side scoop yet, but that will be a winter purchase. I'm also going to be getting my wheels dipped and a smoke windshield this winter for anyone that has some colors to suggest. Thanks!

An easy way is to go to a new car lot. Find a color you like on a car and the window sticker will have the paint code on it. Otherwise an auto body paint shop will have a book with color chips in it. These can be deceptive because they are small, have no curves and you will be standing in artificial light when you look at it. Some have little model car type bodies for some of the colors which is better than the chips, but not as good as seeing it on a large object. What color were you thinking about? I think a dark emerald green or a dark eggplant purple would be cool. gold accents with the green, silver with the purple. (Message edited by diablobrian on October 12, 2005) |

I'm thinking a dark blood red that is almost black with a silver flake, or a pearl. |

House of Kolor has a lot of cool colors, expensive but you won't need as much paint as a car. |

How much are they charging you to dipp your wheels, and who is doing it? I like that pearl. I wonder how that would look with a really dark red. Thanks! |

I wonder how that would look with a really dark red. Possibly the most famous of all dark reds is candy apple red. It's covered everything from cars and bikes to MP3 players and snow ski's. Look no further! Rocket |

Hey jim how do those "grips" feel after an hour? i really like them they are larger around and are easier to hold on to. not to mention they look really sweet. How much are they charging you to dipp your wheels Allot!!! it is costing about a grand for both of them. i guess they are pretty hard to chrome with all the cut outs in them. i took it to my local HD dealer and they sent them out to some place in california. i should be getting them back anytime now. i also had my headers ceramic coated to. i will post more pics as soon as i get it back.} |
