Picked mine up today at lunch; took the loooong way home and ended up with about 80 miles on the clock. Pulling out of the parking lot, I was surprised at how much torque was available down low. The chassis and brakes rival my '04 ZX-10R, and the gear box is smoother. Deceptively fast through the curves and I found some dirt and gravel roads (including my buddy's 600' gravel drive that I took my Kawi on exactly one time) and there was no drama whatsoever. My inseam is 31" on a good day, the seat height was no problem. Gripes: wind protection is not as good as the repliracer, and the v twin is gonna take a bunch of getting used to. It did not seem at all happy below 2 grand, but once broken in I imagine I'll be spending most all my time at 3 and above anyway. Think I'll go with some slightly lower bars, too, but that's my sport bike bias. Overall, I am imensely pleased and think I'll go ahead and put the Kaw up for sale. |

Keep the engine spinning. The absolute worst thing you can do with a new engine is lug it down at 1500 or 2000 rpm. Keep it above 3000 and you should be fine. |
