Just wondering if when the flasher goes bad on the XB9 the turn signal lights will cease to light up at all. The lights won't even light when the switch on the handle bar is activated. I know with a car the lights will come on, but won't blink. Wondering if this is the same type of deal. (on edit) There is nothing about this in the service manual. Just instructions for changing out the flasher. (Message edited by Bbstacker on October 09, 2005) |

If the flasher is stuck in the "open" position that could happen. |

Mine is acting up too. Just installed some cateye turn signals from American Sport Bike and the right blinkers work fine. But the left one buzzes and does not light up. I tried a new flasher, which is like $10 at the dealer, still no change. Going to redo connections next. Anyone have any other ideas. |

Conventional flashers are temperamental things..they need to be within their proper "current window" or they: a) burn up b) flash fast c) don't flash at all. The "traditional" response to this was to install load equalizers to bring the current back to the right higher value after installing small bulb or LED turn signals. I don't like that response, it is energy wasteful and not very elegant. I looked for a while before finding this: It comes from the trucking industry, which has been ahead of the auto industry for years in the usage of LEDs for signal and driving lights. It has the normal ISO pinout that Buell uses, it will flash at the normal rate with LED turn signals, and it is capable of supporting higher currents as well. It doesn't have the mounting tab that the stock one does, but I just stole the stock mounting tab and double sticky tape mounted it to the side of this flasher, backed that up with a tie wrap, and it works great. Buy it here Al |

My original flasher quit on me. The lights didn't light at all. I bought a new one (about $9) at the local H-D/Buell dealer and noticed that it was a revised design. Looked to be better sealed. I opened my original one and saw what appeared to be a small arc flash from maybe a solder bridge or something. It had started working again and it continued for some time before I ended up swapping it with the new one. If you want it, it's yours -- just cover postage... Steve. |

Thanks for the help, everyone. A better idea would prolly be not to get it wet when I wash the bike. It was working fine this morning, so I must have sprayed water where I shouldn't have. |
