I wanna go for a ride this weekend! I don't want to go my myself... Saturday or Sunday - majority rule. Weather forecast is good either way. I have a seasonal destination in mind. I don't want to give away the deets & spoil the fun - but I promise that you will find it equal parts awe inspiring and disturbing. You'll wonder why you came along, but you won't be sorry you did. It will be fun. Bring a camera. It will also be light on the pocketbook (only a ten spot to get in), so do not let that hold you back. We'd need to start out by no later than 10am. Will be stopping halfway in Rockford for a quick lunch. Starting point is my place or thereabouts -60073 zipcode. We'll be going west about 120 miles. To anyone who would need or like to stay over the night beforehand to make it I can offer an attached garage for your horse and a spare bed, futon, or chair of choice to sleep on. |

Sounds fun. I'm close to your zip, but booked (family). If next weekend is open and works better, let us know. Good luck to all those die hard iron butts this Sun. in WI. As much as I enjoy my bike, I just can't do those 500 mile days. Ouch, my arse hurts, just thinking about that. |

Steve-I've just been busy! I moved up here August 13th. Just been trying to get settled in to our apartment, get the garage set up etc. Riding season is quickly coming to an end!!! In Houston (where I moved from) it's just now getting nice! hahaha Thanks for the warm welcome! I really am looking forward to meeting the folks up here though...don't have any friends yet-just hanging out with the wife and...well...you know how that gets after a while!!! LOL! later, Nick |

Ok. Meeting points... Everyone has their particulars, but in the event that someone else may want to tag along at the last minute, or or route crosses your locale: Sunday, Oct. 9 9 am, McDonalds / Gas station in Wadsworth, IL on 41. Me & Nick 9:30 to 10 am, McDonalds / Gas station in Woodstock, IL on the corner of 176 and 47. Me, Nick, & Paul 11 am, Kegels Harley / Buell in Rockford, across from the SW corner of the Cherry Vale Mall parking lot. They have a diner. I've checked to make sure that it is going to be open on Sunday. Perfect place to have lunch. Me, Nick, Paul, & Seth 12 to 12:30ish, we go West son... I'll have some printouts and background info on our destination to hand out. Don't forget a camera if inclined. If anyone wants to hook up at these points or in-betweens, please PM me in advance by midnight Saturday with a phone number I can reach you at in the morning before I start out so that we know to look for you and where. I'll reply with my own number. We'll catch each other somehow. |

Just a thought, You may want to include Byron Il on your ride. The Turkey Testicle Festival is Sunday ..... Yes. real turkey testicles to eat and lots and lots of bikes. Then on the West side of the State ..... Iron Horse Social Club in Savanna IL. Great little club with it's own motorcycle museum and a great Rockford area blues band .... Ernie and the Po' Boys ... starts at 3PM. (and lots of bikes) Roads heading North to Galena from there are quite a treat. Won't be able to make your ride but may see you in one of those places it you stop in. |

Yeah Nick but my S3T loves it when it's 50-60 degrees out. I plan on about 300 mi headed NW through WI to Prairie Du Chien then down the IA side through Dubuque and on to Savanna IL where I'll catch my breath and some kickin blues before heading NW through IL back to Beloit. (Trying like hell to stay off the main roads) I'm figurin it should take just about ALL FREAKIN DAY !!!! Enjoy your ride guys !!!} |

Whew! Everyone make it back OK? Brad-turns out that last gas station we stopped at was only 71 miles from my house! Pretty cool! I was numb and exhausted when I got home, but it was great to go out and enjoy one last nice fall day! Brad & Seth-it was good to meet you guys. Hopefully you can make it up my way some time! later, Nick |

Yeah, that about does it for this year. Any ride that takes me past dark anyway. I dressed for the part. Didn't get uncomfortable too cold. But it was too cold for me to relax and excersize proper form or trust my tires on those turns. There's something neat though about riding home in the absolute dead of night. |
