I found a 03 xb9s at a harley dealership today for right at 7K$ and has 10 miles on it! The salesman said it was the prep miles. Is this a good price and is there anything I should be aware of with this model? How do they hold up, quirks etc? |

KV has the whole run down but the short version is....make sure the wheel bearings have orange dust seals (factory recall), have the dealership check to be sure the kickstand is not one of the re-called units. The belt has a different pitch than current, 04+ models and is less durable than the current version. Forks sliders are 41mm, 05+ spec has a 43mm slider. throttle body design also changed slightly in 04. other than that should be basically the same as all others except for colors. The price isn't bad. and these bikes, XB's, are the most reliable in H-D's line-up. (Message edited by diablobrian on October 06, 2005) changed the year on the fork sliders, thanks for the head's up Dana! (Message edited by diablobrian on October 06, 2005) |

I bought one almost identical to the one you're describing back in April '05 for $6K and they threw in 2 years worth of factory extended warranty. Mine had 137 miles on it. |

The fork did not change. They were 41 mm in 04.That change occurred on the 05's. |

Thanks for your inputs. Are there any Recall/ Service bulletin #'s from Buell or Harley I could go there with in hand so I can have it in writing something that these things were recalled? Thanks again for your input. |

I got my '03 XB9S for $6900 last year(July 2004). It seems like you should get a better deal than 7K, in October of 2005, with the new '06 models out! But if it's the bike you want, at good HD/Buell Dealership than it might be worth it in the long run. It might also be worth the extra cash if they can give you the 2 year warranty. I only got a one year warranty. But make sure that the bike has the new wheel bearings with the Orange seal(Not the Black). -Brad |

I have been up since 2AM because I was so excited about today. Get this, me and my wife go to the Harley dealership to go buy this 03 xb9s today. They dont sell them any more and have had this bike on they're inventory for a couple years. We walk in there and I they tell us the bike has 20 miles on it. OK no biggie. So we inquire about the price wich is 6999 wich they seemed pretty firm on it. Well come to find out there is no warranty left on the bike. So since they were so insistant on how "new" this 03 was I said lets throw in a ONE year warranty into the price for 6999 you got a deal! This dummy the sales manager say "nah cant do it". We said are you sure he says yep. Obviously he like it as a show piece or something for his showroom floor cause he definetly hasn't and isnt selling it for anything that seems reasonablr . Knew it was to good to be true. Oh well let me know if any of you have a deal on a new buell. I would probaly be interested in it. Thanks (Message edited by sgthigg on October 08, 2005) |

Call Daves today. He is off monday. Let me know if you get an '03, I have a couple of pages of notes on the model, as the result of putting 10,000 happy miles on one. By the way, I think getting a new leftover '03 is just about the best buy in motorcycling available at this time. |

What SHOULD a new 2003 XB9R cost? How about a nearly new (400 miles) 2003 XB9R in PERFECT shape. I'm a long-time Guzzi guy, but when I rode an XB12R a few months ago I became HOOKED! The most fun I've ever had on two wheels. I'm in the market -- talking to one guy -- but I do not want to be "taken." I'll happily pay a premium price for a perfect, low-mileage XB9R, but somehow $6200 seems like a bit much after reading this board. Thoughts? |

I would have jumped on it for $6999. After all, I paid like 10k for mine in '03! |
