For all those interested I just tried out the Novus 2 that DaveS sent me along with my new XB frame pucks and I have to say that the stuff definately does what it says it will do and then some. Embarassingly enough, I had left my Lab in my garage one night when I had gone to town for some dog pen repair material. He got a little overzealous (he's always liked motorcycles I guess) and decided to climb all over it. When I got back home I noticed some dirt on the seat, and then noticed scratches all over the tail and tank. Anyway, NOVUS 2 has solved all my problems, bike looks brand new, and its really easy to use too. Thanks again DaveS! |

I work with acrylic a lot at work machining, building boxes, etc., and use the Novus stuff a lot. It pulls out the inherent lines really nice and cleans up most scratches well, heavily scratched stuff may require three and then step down to two. Usually one is just overkill. Never tried it on my bike though as i have a tuber-paint baby! |

I think the Novus 1 does not actually polish, it just removes the electrical charge that acts (literally) as a dust magnet. I think. The Harley Sealer glaze seems to do a better job with a final super gloss polish, and offers better protection as well. I will then sometimes hit it with the Novus 1, but don't generally see much difference. |

"S100 Detail and Polish" beats the HD glaze, especially for the plastic XB finish. |

Hey burner, what color are your plastics? I just tried the Novus 2 product on an inconspicuous location on my black plastics, and it left the finish a bit hazy...seems to have left a film that doesn’t buff off! ‘06 Manual says to use the Novus 2 on the windshield and a Harley Scratch Removing product on the body plastics, but I thought that my ‘05 manual had recommended N2 for both. I’m wondering if anyone has any experience using either or both of these on Black Body Finishes. Maybe I’m doing something wrong? |

Easinc.....I just bought N2 for my bike. I have the black bodywork too. Tried it on the the passenger cowl cover and it scuffed the hell out of it and left a white haze also. I cannot get the haze to go away. I tried to wax it and it helped slightly. A little aggravated because this is what everyone reccomends for the plastic body work |

I second Blake's post regarding the S100 detail and Polish - good stuff for the whole bike..I use the Harley Swirl and Scratch remover as well...works great. |

I completely understand your frustration. Fortunately for me, I tried the N2 on a spot under the rear seat first. I purchased the Harley product for the scratches I wanted to remove on the airbox, and although it left a less conspicuous haze, it’s plainly seen in less bright lighting....even after two coats of wax. Some people rave about both of these products and that was the reason for my initial post. I was wondering if there was some kind of trick to using either one of them. When I purchased the N2 product, the guy in the parts department told me that he had used it on a windscreen and was unhappy with the results until someone told him that it had to be machine buffed afterwards. He said it worked great when he tried that technique, but I was extremely hesitant to take a buffer to the colored plastics and wouldn’t unless I was fairly certain that was the real trick. Again I ask for others experiences with both of these products! |

So regarding the S100...where do you get it? is it a Harley product? If it is, I will just go to the local HD dealer and get some of that and the swirl and scratch remover. |

Hey, Vader. The Swirl and Scratch remover is a Harley product. The S100 is available at all Harley Dealers I’ve ever been to, but is really just a cleaner/wax product, not a finish restorer. But again, although I liked the results achieved with the Harley Swirl and Scratch product better than the N2, if I had a small scratch on my colored plastics, I’d rather live with the scratch rather than the resulting haze....unless someone has found a procedure that eliminates the haze.....anyone? |

What are you applying the N2 with? Cotton cloth, or a paper towel? It removes paint / plastic material... so don't use it unless you have a need to do that. If you want a wax, use a wax (like the S100 or the Harley Sealer Glaze). |

My vague understanding of the Novus products is that they're really 3 different levels of refinishing - like coarse, medium, fine. You, basically, you'd eventually want to finish off the job with the finest polish. Or I could be smoking dope. -Saro |

Easinc, S100 Detail and Wax (S100D&W). Really. Good buddy of mine Skully had used the N2 and Harley Glaze attempting to restore shine after an errant tank bag episode. Scratches came out fine with the N2, but no matter what, the finish remained dull, kinda fogged looking. I lent him my can of S100 D&W, finish returned to original luster. I buy mine from various sources. Dennis Kirk, or the local shop whichever works best at the time. Maybe American Sport Bike or one of our other sponsors will start carrying it too? |

Blake, Fogged is a good way to describe it. I have the S100 product and although I did try it only once, I didn’t find it much better than the Harley Gloss product. I got the best results from a 100% Carnuba paste wax, but again, the area treated with the Harley Gloss product is not as lustrous as the untreated areas |

Saro...I believe the N2 is the finest polish out of the 3 in the set. N1 is just a cleaner that takes the static out of the plastic so it is not a dirt magnet. I was under the impression that N2 would be perfect for the swirls and small scratches I had(from drops and what not), but it ended up being more aggressive than I anticipated. I did apply with a cotton cloth and then buffed with a microfiber cloth. Would never use a paper towel as I would think it could add to the abbrasion. I thank you guys for your help....I think I will go to the HD dealer and look for some S100 and the Harley swirl and scratch remover. I will post what outcome is when I try it. Thanks again. |

N2 will turn the finish on my 9sx translucid airbox to a perfect mirror finish. Don't know if paint or surlyn will react differently. Application is everything though, follow the instructions and use a good clean soft cotton cloth. |

Like Reep, the N2 does great on my CityX airbox and flyscreen. No hazing at all. Finish off with the N1 and Harley glaze and it looks great. |

Apparently, there is a big difference between the translucent plastics and the colored.... My ‘06 Manual recommends using the N2 on the Clear or Translucent, but the Harley product on the Colored. Although I could be wrong, I thought my ‘05 manual did not differentiate. I believe it said to use the N2 on all plastics. But again, on my Black plastics, both products leave it looking foggy or hazy, although the Harley Product was better. I’d like to hear from more Buellies who have used either of these products on the colored plastics and their experience! |

Ok guys....update. I got the Harley swirl and scratch remover and the S100 Detail and Wax. Good stuff!!! Worked great, brought my finish back. Very happy. I tried the Novus 2 again though, just because of being determined to see how it worked for scratches. This works good in this order. N2, then Harley S&S remover, then the S100. N2 by itself will not work on black plastic by itself....you need a finer polisher after that. Thanks for the help on this one guys! |

Just a note, Honda has a Damn good scratch and haze remover for our black body work. I to struggled with the back and forth of the N2 to S100, I must say they all suck as a all-in-one product! But, Honda has some stuff simply called Honda Wax----works---great!!! |
