I went to a demo ride today. When I arrived at the dealer, I was anxious to see the XB12X in real. I looked everywhere, not a sign of the Ulysses. I asked the guy who was in charge, he told me that a guy crash the 12X yesterday. He show me the bike... in the van, the back was really smash, the left peg was broken and the primary cover cracked with oil dripping from it. The guy told me that the customer told him he dropped the bike at a stop sign. But it was obvious that the guy dropped it on a wheely. The license plate was scraped from the bottom to the middle of it. That was the only Ulysses they had in the demo ride.... so I didn't tried it I tried the new XB12SS, the long one. I was really surprised by this bike. It's a really smooth bike, more comfortable to ride than my 2005 9SX. The bike feel more stable and more comfortable. The seat is nice and the suspension look softer, probably because increase wheelbase and fork rake. I also tried a Harley Street Rod. I was pleased with that bike too. Good power and good handling. Very fun to ride, nothing near the XB12SS but nice bike. I really was looking to ride the Ulysses and didn't because of the crash. But my dealer told me they will probably receive a Ulysses next week and they will let me try it. (Message edited by stou on October 01, 2005) |

Now thats a bummer... I always wondered what they did if a demo was crashed, does the customer just walk away from that without being held responsible? Kinda cool if it really is a freak accident, not so cool if you're pushing a bike you don't know and wreck it for the shop. |

I'm not sure but I think when you crash a demo bike, you have to pay for the 'deductible' part of the insurances. In some case I think it can go up to $1000. It's written on the form you fill when you do a demo ride. |

Demo rides at my local HD dealer are ride-alongs with a salesman. |

I rented a Street Rod out of Boise (Cycle Nuts). the HD insurance has a $2000 deductible @$20 per day, and the dealership seemed offended when I asked for the VIN so I could have my insurance put it on a $500 deductible for as long as I wanted. It didn't help when some numbnutz failed to properly lock on the weak, lame cheasy HD saddle bags and one flew off, not to be found. Which is just less than the deductible. ---rant off--- The Street Rod had a nice smooth motor and great power for passing. Good Handling for a Harley, but not big enough for my 6'1 frame. I found a sweet S3t a few weeks later. |
