My wife and I did a track day this past Saturday, me on my '03 XB9S and she on her '04 ZX-6R. It was her first time. I have done one on my '03 GSX-R750 previously. In my opinion, on this short, tight, technical track, the XB was the superior machine. It was a hoot! I was running a fresh set of Diablo's (with less than 100 miles on them) and they inspired as much confidence as I needed. The class consisted mostly of Asian sportbikes, but there were a few odd ones: A huge 1500cc Suzuki cruiser, a chick on a 250 Rebel, and a couple of Hayabusas. BTW, the chick on the Rebel was fearless. Well, no so much fearless as ignorant. I have never seen, nor had the instructors seen, anyone take a bike TOO deep into a corner before initiating her turn. My wife has only been street riding for 3 years now and looked absolutely fantastic out on the track. I knew she would be good, but she even surprised me. The 2 guys on 'Busas have a new-found respect for Buell! They were laughing at the beginning of the day, but that soon changed when they saw the cornering capabilities of the XB. I'm sure it's what one gets accustomed to, but I could get around much quicker and cleaner on my XB than I could my Gixxer. I'm officially addicted to track riding now. |

Sounds like you and the missus had a wonderful day. What track were you on? You might want to take a look at the Azonic CR low bars if you are going to make track days and fast cornering a habit. Quite a few of the members have switched over to them, ( including me). They give a slightly more aggressive riding posture, but most members report that they don't compromise the seating position for the street at all. They are available from Cycle Gear for about $35 and install without changing cables. Most of the guys have cut an inch off the ends of both bars, and removed the cross brace. Here is a link to the Knowledge Vault where they are discussed. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/132568.html#POST496358 |

Hi Dana. Glad the kit worked out for you. It is always encouraging to know. Here is a photo that Blake took. I modified one of the DHM license plate brackets and used it to mount the transponder. If you look closely, just below the tail light, you can see it. CMRA rules dictate that the transponder must be mounted in a vertical plane that passes though the centerline of the rear axle. Not too many places on the "S" that satisfy that! Keith |

Beautiful! That one may require investing in the hi-res version and putting on the BadWeB 2006 Calendar. |

Yes I am addicted too!!! I loved my 9S on the track. With it's wide bars I could really throw the 9S around. My only problem was me touching the pegs down and my riding position was not easy to get out of the wind. That's why I got a 12R for the riding position. The 9S was a lot easier to ride fast on the track though. Maybe because of the power was a little easier to control. When I started the first time with the 12R on the track I tried to ride it like the 9S and I was doing a lot of rear wheel slides. I almost had to change my under wear. LOL. Yes Buells do corner better and make it easier to ride faster with the smooth power delivery. Now all you have to do is save money for your habit like me!!! Good luck Brupska |

I had a similar problem with my footpegs on my XB12S, but a $5 metal saw took care of the problem . Now I still scrap them, but at least they do not fold in a turn. Here's me on a fresh set of Dunlop GP Racer tires 3 weeks ago. Power-sliding problem, which I had on D207s even in 3rd gear is gone, those new tires are great! |

Dungood, Did you know that the XB's footpeg warning scrapers will unscrew from the aluminum footpeg? |
