Can someone that has done a header swap give me a rough time frame that I should set aside to remove and replace the old header. 04 XB12R if it makes a difference. I am rather competent when it comes to mechanic work and have plenty of tools. Thanks in advance. John | ||

me being not as mechanical did it in about 2.5 hours. not as brutal as it sounds and it all went well. good luck. | ||

Just be careful when you put back your motor mounts. Those aluminum bolts are soft. Take it slow and make sure nothing binds when you rotate the motor. | ||

The bolts aren't aluminum. The one that broke on your bike just seemed soft because it broke so easy. It may have been stressed from when the bike went down in that gravel just before you bought it. Who was it that did that?  Maybe, maybe not, who knows. Just glade you guys were able to get it out. Way to stick with it S_B... | ||

It should only be around a 3 hour job if you’re working alone and apply plenty of patience. Took me two nights at a couple hours each but I kept stopping to watch TV, smoke out, and drink beer. After I was done it seemed a lot easier then described in the manual. I was also able to leave the throttle cables attached when I dropped the engine but I did remove the clutch cable from the handle. |
