It will feel really weird when you start doing standups, but trust me you have much more control and a better view of what is going on. When you are standing be sure to only use one or two fingers on the clutch. When you do it that way you are still holding on to the handle bar and your hand won't come off if the bike jerks up on you. I can probably ride sit down wheelies farther, but it's only because I start to drift when I'm standing. I'm just not quite comfortable enough to be crawling all over the bike standing yet. I'm getting there though. Don't think only 12rs can do anything. My friend is better than I am and he is on an 03 9s. |

Just started riding a few months ago...so no wheelies for me. Just a comment to 99buellx1... I noticed that this is in the parking lot at Iowa State. You guys part of the motorcycle club? |

Any advise for not going back too far? Any body try clutching up the wheel in first gear on a 12r or is it just easier to do it in second. I would like to try to wheelies at a lower speeds (like 5-15mph) before trying wheelies at higher speeds. I have done wheelies by the good ole method of winding up first gear to about 3700. close the throttle and then bang back open, but by the time the frt. wheel gets about 2 to 3 feet off the ground I seem to run out of revs to keep it going, plus I am going about 30 to 40 mph. |

All this wheelie talk is killing me. I've been laid up the past week due to surgery. I still have another week at least until the DR. clears me to ride.
