I know a lot of you out there are running an open air box. I just installed mine this weekend and am thinking of getting an aftermarket outer air box cover that has scoops or mesh vents. Any problem with the air box being that exposed to the elements? I am curious if anyone has vents or mesh in the outer plastic cover around the air box. |

Lot's of people do, and I've never heard of any real problems. Maybe if ya get caught in a really heavy down pour though. |

I just put the open airbox kit on mine this weekend and I was thinking the same thing. I think I might just cut up an ebay airbox instead of the very expensive vented cover. Isn't it like $350? |

Mine's chopped up and I've ridden 160 miles back in some hard Florida rain with no ill effects. Bike ran as strong as ever. |

What about engine noise? Is it much higher with the Open Airbox? Thanks. |

I think its louder but it revs easier on my xb12 and the noise is addictive. Get a spare so you can switch back and forth! WT |

Wouldn't want to ride in Florida with an open AIR BOX Today... Today wouldn't be the best day to ride in Florida at all... Stay safe, stay indoors.. |
