Just got my Streetfighter and Traction grips from DaveS last week. After installing the grips at midnight last night, did my first real trip with the new seat today. 7 hours, 320 miles (all but 10 miles of it were twisty, nasty, rough, up-and-down hill two lane). Great! Much better than the stock saddle. I didn't much care for the looks of the Select seat...a little too funky for me. I guess if it ends up being an excellent touring saddle (better than the Streetfighter) I'll get one someday...but for now, the Streetfighter is IT. My list of must-have XBS improvements are 1) Tires 2) Seat. Thanks to the board for answering the seat questions the last couple of months. Bill  | ||

I was about to buy a streetfighter seat for my XB9SL but heard about select seat and thought I would wait and see how people like it first. | ||

Xring, did you find that the streetfighter seat fit a little more snugly than the original stock seat? I've been thinking about a streetfighter seat, and a more snug fit would "seal the deal" for me. | ||

hi xring, a few questions if ya don't mind thanks. buell streetfighter same height as stock? seems a little lower - same width / narrower up front? Just wondering about Buell comments like: 'Includes a unique "kicked-up" area to hold rider in an aggresive riding position.' and 'Set back seating area compared to stock seat position.' can you tell if its got different padding material? (doubt its gel) glad to hear good news that you're happy!     | ||

Just wondering how the Streetfighter fits for you, cause I had bought one a couple of years ago for my 9s, and it fit, shall we say...like crap! comfortable, but...any way, I now have a 12s and am trying to decide between pressing my luck on another, ( It was a big improvement over stock)or get a " Select" seat. | ||

John: My Streetfighter is definitely wider in the front; I can no longer squeeze my knees in far enough to completely avoid the wind blast over my frame pucks. It also seems to be padded more, at least in the front area; I haven't measured but I think it is a little thicker (higher seat height) than the stock seat. The cover material is different from my stock seat; it is softer and not as slick. The padding is apparently different, or maybe just thicker, but my stock seat would start digging into my sit bones after about 45 minutes; never happened with the Streetfighter. Black9: My new seat fits much more tightly to the bike that my stock one did. With the stock seat, I sometimes had trouble convincing myself that it was latched correctly. The Streetfighter latches in place without any fore-and-aft movement; in fact it grips the airbox cover pretty tight. This bothered me for a bit, but after the first few miles I didn't give it any more thought. I was all for the Select seat (Gel has some wonderful properties) but just don't like the v-notch and the way the strap goes across it. I'm waiting to hear feedback about it from riders that have also used a Streetfighter. Good luck, Bill | ||

I purchased the Streetfighter seat and it saved my rear-end. With the stock seat installed on my 12S, after 30 minutes my rear-end got up and left me in the middle of a ride. Tight installation and a "snug" fit... for me anyway. I did not notice the front being wider cause I don't have a prob with tucking my knees in. The Streetfighter is a wonderful seat. I also installed the Traction Grips. A great combination of seat & grip comfort and confidence. |
