No, I was not aware, although it was noticeably lower than the 'Bolts. How can you tell it is a cg from the picture? As far as which one I am keeping, I think it will be one of the 'Bolts. (The one in the middle won the coin toss. :-) This was not an easy decision, however. I just sold my BMW F650GSA, and the Lightning is much more similar with regard to ergos. Since it is what I'm used to, it actually feels more natural and comfortable to me (nutcracker seat notwithstanding!). However, 85% of my riding is both local and spirited, so I thought I would try something built for such a purpose. Also, I *LOVE* the styling of the Firebolt, while I find the Lightning’s bug eyes somewhat quirky. (Yeah, this would concern a former Bimmer rider - Ha! :-) I also like that the Firebolt has a hint of wind protection, unlike the Lightning, which leaves you very much exposed. I took the ‘Bolt for an 18 mile ride this evening. The very different posture will take some getting used to. It also didn’t help that I had not ridden in 3 weeks and had to limp it along due to the break in restrictions. :-) But there is a poker run tomorrow, so we will have a chance to become better acquainted. Hey, can anyone tell me how the helmet security cable in the toolkit is supposed to work? The manual didn’t really say. I presume it goes through the D-rings, but then what? The cowl does not secure with a "post" per se, so I was not sure exactly how to lock it properly and where the helmet rests when done correctly. Any advice is appreciated; knowledge base only seems to have pics of aftermarket solutions. |

Hey man, I thought that place looked familiar, I'd recognize that unincorporated land anywhere, we need to get together and ride. I am having a little get together at my house for Bikes, Blues, and BBQ, you should come check us out. I am a stones throw away from you (stones throw if you're superman) in Rogers. Are you going to the fair this weekend? I will be there at about 10:30 a.m. (arm band). You can call me at (479)366-3062 |

Local Buellers - right on! I moved out of Rogers last year and live in Bella Vista now. I went to the county fair on Tuesday. Tomorrow (Saturday) is a poker run. Me and a few guys are meeting at the NASCAR McDonalds at I-540 & 102 in Bentonville @ 9AM. I'm definitely ready for BBBBQ also! I'll be in touch. Cheers! |

Where did you live in Rogers? I live by Doc Wheeler park. My friend's dad built a bunch of homes in B.V. Fredericks Construction. My friend used to live on Brittany lane. I know, B.V. has about twenty million streets and dirt patches with different names |

In Rogers, I was at the intersection of Pleasant Grove Road and S. 45th St (west side of I-540). Brittany is very close to me now. I am near 340 & Trafalgar. |

How can you tell it is a cg from the picture? If you check out the forks where the "dust seal" is, you'll notice on the "S" that the dust seal is right near the top bolt for the fender. On the "R" the dust seal is nearer to the top of the fender. The difference should be about 1". As far as which one I am keeping, I think it will be one of the 'Bolts Dang, I was wrong. I was betting on the "S". In the pic, the pipe looks "bluer" than the other two. Either way, you still got a sweet deal there. Good luck and happy Buellin' |

Well, I got in a good 125 miles or so today. The break-in period riding sucks! But that aside, I quickly adapted to the machine and I can tell it is going to be a lot of fun once I am able to open her up a bit. As for the poker run, my hand was so bad it won't even win the worst hand prize. Oh well, proceeds went to the Red Cross so it was money well lost. Cochise - It was nice to meet you this morning! I look forward to when we can ride together. (After my break-in period is over!) P.S. Your bike is indeed loud! Tank - Well, you have a sharp eye, my friend. I think you are right, but is there any way to confirm with the VIN or some other method? I do not care if it is a low since I bought it to sell it, but I want to make sure I represent it appropriately. Oh, and the pic was taken before I got my first ride, so the pipes would not have given my choice away. Also, the outhouse at the construction site was not my first choice for a background, but just a hasty pic right after we got them unloaded in the driveway. |

You can tell what the bike is on your own by checking the "tag" on the lower case on the motor behind the bend of the header, it should say what it is. It was good to meet you also. I will say this as the leader of ATC, not as a poster on badweb, as long as you don't redline it, you should still be able to open her up a bit, especially after 200 miles, as long as you don't continuously bounce it off the rev-limiter. |

You mean this tag? It does not say it is a cg model.

that would be the one, it should also say on the "dash" |

OK, so it's not a cg model then, right? Any idea why it sits so much lower compared to the 'Bolt or your XB12Ss? Think it might be the preload settings? How was the fair? |

I am not sure about the ride height. I am not a person who enjoys the fair, but I had the best time with my kids and the wife today. my two year old went on the tilt-a-whilr looking ride first, we were worried she wouldn't ride anything else, but that kid started pointing at stuff, she went on the Ferris wheel, the dragon roller coaster, she went on alot of the rides I thought she wouldn't. my five year old is the same way, she went on all the aforementioned and she also LOVED the Scrambler. 2 yr old doesn't like cotton candy AT ALL. |

I could be wrong(wouldn't be the first time), but she sure looks like she's squattin'. Check the rear shock also: Yellow = low blue = regular I just checked my 03' low; there's no special markings at all that I could find.(but it is an XB9) When I bought it, the salesman didn't realize it was low until he looked it up on the computer. p.s. soon, the "break in" will be a distant fading memory (Message edited by tank_bueller on September 18, 2005) |

If it is a yellow spring then its deffently a low. call the dealer and ask them about it or maybe check you title and see what it says on there |

I think the dealer took a Regular S and converted it to a Low, when I bought my Reg S a few months ago the dealer tryed to do this to me and make me pay more for the bike. |

""Hey, can anyone tell me how the helmet security cable in the toolkit is supposed to work?"" Loop the wire cable through the helmet d-rings, then unlatch the seat and place the loops over the latch pin, secure seat back, now your locked. |

True, but it would have been bad if the interested party (he is over 6' tall) got here from Colorado with a trailer only to find out it was a cg model! Just want to make sure I represent it for what it is. Guess I'll call the dealership on Tuesday. |

"Loop the wire cable through the helmet d-rings, then unlatch the seat and place the loops over the latch pin, secure seat back, now your locked." That's great for the S model, since there's a pin. The R's don't have that. I believe you loop in through the D rings, through itself, and then the other end goes over the part of the passenger pillon that latches...slip it over it and lock the seat on and then let it dangle.} |
