I'm thinking of getting a XB12R. The local dealer doesn't have one right now. I think Glendale is doing a demo day in Oct. so maybe I'll see one there. I definitely need to ride one before deciding if I'm going to buy one. My previous street bikes were an '86 Honda VFR750F and an '89 HD FXSTS. It looks like Buell has come a long way. This is a great board. Thanks to those who set it up and maintain it. | ||

Hello fellow Buellers, I am the new owner of a (used) 2003 XB9S. I bought it near Philadelphia a couple weeks ago, and rode it home to Northern Illinois in about 15 hrs. Had to make hourly stops the last half of the 800+ mile trip, as my butt and the seat weren't getting along very well. Other than the speedo quitting on me, have had no problems with the bike. I will be using the bike mostly for commuting (70 miles round trip, probably 9-10k/year), so the low-maintenance aspect was important to me. I did a ton of research on Badweb and elsewhere before I bought the bike. Other than a couple Hodaka dirt bikes owned when I was a youngster, my prior bike (tho it's been 10 years) was a Honda FT500 single. I put 60k on it over 7 years of commuting. I'm looking forward to many years of Buell ownership, and maybe even meeting a Badwebber or two sometime. | ||

Whats up people? Just wanted to say thanks to all of you guys and gals here. Almost made a big mistake , i first found this forum with hopes of finding a cheap Buell to "chop" for a project me and a friend had planned. Im sure you have all heard of the "mutant buells" people are building now days.Any way after reading more about Buells and all the fun they are I found my self falling "in love" with the older tube frame bikes, ive ridden bikes before but never legally so i hope to find a good starter Buell next spring and cant wait to hit every one up with Q's and pics. Just wanted to say thanks to every one for detailing there journeys on line....WAY SLICK..................  | ||

Hello Buelligans!!I've owned a couple of Harleys over the years and I'm familiar with the mannerisms of an American V-twin.Being a younger rider,most of my buddies ride Jap sportbikes and I've always loved the speed and precision of those type bikes.After some financial trouble I am bikeless but will be in the market for a new ride soon.Money is a factor and some of the similar Jap bikes are cheaper than a Buell.All the reviews I have read basically say Buells lack a little power compared to other brands in the same category.I have never ridden a Buell,but as mentioned above I know how V-twin engines behave.I am intrigued by the innovations that Erik Buell has supplied the American biker and I really like the distinctive looks of Buells.I love V-twins...the sound,vibration,low rev torque,I just need to know I will be satisfied in the long run with the sport performance of a Buell.I love the speed of Jap sportbikes and understand an inline four has quite a different power delivery than a twin.I'm leaning toward the Lightning models for longer riding comfort and to be honest it looks to be more hooligan(wheelies,etc.)friendly considering the handlebars compared to clip-ons.I need feedback to know I can spend the extra bucks on a Buell and get the speed and handling of a top notch sportbike and be satisfied in the long run.I am a patriotic American and would love to blister my Jap bike buddies while riding some American iron on a snaky road.I actually like the quirkiness that many reviews I've read refer to as the cons of a Buell.To get down to it,I'd rather have a kick-••• muscle car that smells old and is hard to start on cold mornings than a cutting edge foreign sports car,if you catch my drift.I like to ride fast on curvy roads and pop wheelies and such for kicks.I need a bike that's nimble,light, quick off the corners,able to wheelie fairly easy and won't send me to the chiropractor after a long ride,is a Buell the bike for me? | ||

Almost sounds like a TUBE FRAME Buell would be right for you...don't overlook them. Try riding one before you make up your mind.  errr...I don't sound "opinionated", do I? | ||

Dawg, I'd suggest registering and then posting your forsale bike in the classified section. Doesn't take much. Or at the very least provide for some way for someone to contact you and maybe at least hint at what sort of price you're looking for and where roughly in the world where you are located. There are people who post and read the site here who are from Australia, Korea, Japan, England, France, Czechslovakia (sp?), all the States of the United States, and even folks from Brazil and Canada. There was even a guy once who was from Iceland (or maybe it was Greenland). Shoot, there's even a regular guy on here from Newfoundland, and another from Ireland. So, in reality, for all we know, your S1W might be parked on a street in Amsterdam as easily as it might be parked on a sidewalk in Brooklin or a burb in 'Jersey. So, don't worry Dawg, we don't bite, and readily accept even a growl or two from the more gruff of the members here. Register and then tell us all a little more about your S1W and where roughly it might be located, and even better let us all know what sort of price you're looking for on it. hi everyone what a great site congrats keep up the good work i have a Q. for all the buell people out there i have a 99 s3 standard apart from the pipe which has the baffel system opened up so it can breath better the pipe was done about a year ago . the problem is the bike has just started to faulter when im cruising i've had a slight serge problem since i'v owned the bike which i believe is a fuel injection fault but this is sort of the same but worse its hard to describe on a key board the bike will power out ok but when you back it off and cruise at around 3/3500 rpm it seems to lose power like the fuel dries up or the flow is obstructed briefly which makes the bike miss or skip the thing is it does'nt happen all the time. there's 43000 k's on the clock and has just had a major service which seemed to fix the problem but only lasted a week and a half or so before starting again dose anyone have some suggestions i live in brisbane australia dose anyone know a buell guru over here cheers to all ride hard and stay on top | ||

Hidey Ho Good Buellers, I made the commitment to take a beloved S3T, and care for her feeding high octane and quality fluids. It is apparent she will take me through the hills and curves and be ready for more long after I'm looking for a place to clean my shorts. I was looking hard at the new models but they just don't fit. So a premium tube frame is a great way to go. BTW, I also tried on a Street Rod for size. It is a capable ride in the twisties, if a little heavy, and the motor is powerful. Yet, it lacks the comfort for my 6'1" frame and does not have the great low end punch of the Buell. I did like the Revolution though, it passes well in 3rd gear from 50 to ???, screaming at 9000 rpm, it really starts pulling at about 7000. But the Buell is a complete package, I'll bet Erik could do something with that package. | ||

Great site with lots of info. Wife has a Blast, so really appreciate the thumper forum. test rode a CityX, REALLY loved it. But... I'm 54 with bursitis in my hips. Riding in one position for any length of time, mids or forward controls, gets uncomfortable. I know it's a sin, but has anyone tried to put highway pegs on one? BTW, I think I might like the tube frames as well, like S3T. Want the bags. Eric Edwards, I've owned a 76 FL, and rode my sons jap sport bikes (painful). You WILL NOT be disappointed in a Buell. The handling of a GSXR, (actually I liked the buell better,) with the ridability of a Vtwin. Oh yea! Thanks for any comments, Dave | ||

Greetings, As an aging Ducatisti whose neck and wrists no longer enjoy extended sportbike riding, I've been looking at several of the "adventure" bikes like the Multistrada, BMW GS family, etc. One of my riding buddies had recently stopped by a Buell dealer and mentioned he saw the new XB12X Ulysses. I've had a casual interest in Buells since the mid 90's but the quality/design issues of the early bikes were too much to ignore. When the XB's came out I thought they were rather interesting but the moto press wasn't especially kind, and I wasn't in the market anyway. Recently I'd made plans to sell my Duc for something more upright and comfortable, with the R1200GS being the lead candidate. After reading many of the on-line reviews etc., the Ulysses is now at the top of the "I need to check this out" list. I haven't ridden any Buell, so I'm looking forward to doing so in the next few weeks. John | ||

Greetings. Been riding an '04 XB12S since 7/04 with 10K miles on it . All stock (so far) but loving in anyways. I rode H-D's for many years and I am new to this scene. I know Big Twins/Sportys inside and out, but the fuel injection on this bike is different. I am re-building my FXR (best bike I have ever owned) but if I can afford two bikes, I will keep the Buell. I will be back. | ||

Im new to Buells. I currently have a sportster 883R. Its been a good bike but now am looking for something more sportier. Love that V-Twin sound, and I beleive I will be getting the best of both worlds if I get a Buell. Im glad this site exists its a great place to get info. Rob | ||

Welcome Staindus! Test ride a 9sx, they are great fun, and I have seen some *killer* deals from people that can't resist the sweet siren song of Ulysses  There have also been some great deals on 03 XB9s models, which even though they were a first year bike are VERY well sorted... the new 06 belt being able to retrofit to the 03 model removes the biggest liability with the 03 versus the newer models. Of course, if you are not short and want to adventure tour, or ride two up, the XB12x looks like *the* bike to have. And an old S1 or M2 would make a great hobby bike as well. Times are good! | ||

Just bought my dream!!  A 2003 XB9S with all the goodies(race kit+XB12 airbox), black of course. Went to the local dealer with the cash for an '06 Firebolt and saw this perfect little low mile beauty and decided she was a better choice. Hello all, I just bought a 2000 x1 lightning two days ago. The low fuel level idiot light wasn't working and being the idiot I am I ran it dry on the freeway. Now it runs like crap.
