I have spent the last 10 minutes trying to look at old posts to find out where people have been getting the 20W-50 V-twin synthetic. I have a XB12R and am tired of spending to much money on stuff labelled Buell so I want to switch to the Mobil 1 stuff for my next change. Anyone know generally where to get this stuff. I assume it is not in the local car parts stores. I live in Colorado. As well, what about the oil filter. I know I have read somewhere that there is an alternative to the Buell filter.

Thanks

Dale

I live in lower Alabama and had to drive to Atlanta to get some. Found it at Advance Auto.

Point being, you may have to drive a good bit to find some. I was up there for other reasons so it wasn't a big deal. It is very difficult to find if you are not in a metro area though.

I'm in Colorado, and get mine at Autozone. I think the Advanced Auto here in town carries it as well.

Cruisin- I also checked Mobils' site for local suppliers but Walmart still didn't have it. They have Mobil 1 but not MC oil. Autozone here stopped carrying it due to low sales so I picked it up in Atl. I think Chaparral and a few other MC parts places carry it and you can find it online too. I bought enough to last 3 changes though!

Yeah, my Walmart supposedly has motorcycle oil, but I have yet to find it (that was a wasted trip). The AutoZone in Essex Jct has it (thankfully since the search only allows for 50 miles and the only places listed are Walmarts and AutoZones!)

Otherwise I'd be having it shipped!

Walmart's motorcycle section had it here.. I am in the Seattle metro area .... though the Mobil 1 gear oil has been getting harder to locate .. will probably just order a case of Amsoil or Redline

Thanks Crusin, I am going to place a call to the local places to double check. Now what about the oil filter?

Either way, thanks.

Dale, I'm down here around Dallas and I get mine at AutoZone. Some of the smaller stores don't carry it but the larger ones do...

I think it depends on the area you are in. The Napa by me doesn't even have 20-50W in any kind of oil. The auotzones are a little better in selection. Pepboys only carries stuff for ricers. So far the cheapest place for me to get synthetic motorcycle oil is the dealer. Unless somebody knows where I can get Mobil 1 V-twin in the SF valley area for under $8 a quart.
