for some time i have been thinking of replacing the front primary drive sprocket with one of those light alloy ones with less teeth.a few monthes back[i dont get on badweb very often] someone said they had machined his steel sprocket and rotor,for racing,and as a unit it was lighter than the sprocket on its own.how was the rotor machined,drilled,hacksawed chissled lighter,would this be road use reliable,how was this done without damageing the magnets,have you got photos or diagrams? |

yeah, nother dude machined down a miniature rotor and stator took several pounds off the primary inertia heap. had to rev like a banshee. ok for the track where your revs are up high, but would suck around town/traffic/parking lots i think. |

Doesn't have anywhere near as much effect as the same weight reduction from the flywheels. Inertia ~ OD^4. |
