Pete, I will make every effort to make it Saturday at Bloomington for a meeting with Jeff Stevens. I will be out of state Thursday and Friday. Should be back sometime late friday evening. Ping me with tentative time. I have some business in Indy on Saturday, but will try to work that around the meeting. Probably AM early or early afternoon would would out best for me. Anyone up for a short ride on Sunday? I don't want to get too far from home just yet until I'm sure that both the bike and I am adequately repaired from an error in judgement earlier this summer. I plan on being at Southside at 2:00. From there I'll run down to the Greenwood exit and take backroads to Shelbyville. There's a decent number of curves that anyone I've taken has been happy with considering the lack of options near Indy. The best part follows Sugar Creek for awhile. I mayconsider running 44 out of Shelbyville back west, but I don't think it gets interesting until you're on the other side of 31. Post or call 809-1808 if you're interested. | ||

Raptor, I've stopped by Benson's once. When I asked if they had any Buell apparel I got a po'd employee who complained about the lack of Buell sales and how they were stuck with old models they couldn't get rid of. I go by about once a month and always expect to see the Buell sign coming down (I'm hoping to dig it out of the trash!). I don't expect that there are many roads up there that could put a Buell to good use, so I'm not surprised that it's not a good fit. At the same time, I don't think that volcano grey on a nuclear orange frame it that good of a match, either! | ||

If I'm going to join a BRAG, I'd rather it be by resurrecting something at Southside....with a name a little less antagonistic than "Streetfighters"!. Bloomington is farther than I have time to travel to on a regular basis. | ||

Had a nice ride. It's a little less than an hour from Southside to Shelbyville, though it seemed to go by much quicker. I tightened down my front muffler bolt before we left. It was gone when I got home so the call to make it a short ride worked out. I'll keep a lookout for the next ride. | ||

I also agree that South Side is more convenient. However, they don't really seem to "speak" Buell very fluently there. Raptor and Harley have experienced that first hand. They also don't really have anyone there that seems very interested in running a BRAG chapter. Bloomington on the other hand, while being further away, is very enthusiastic about Buells. They RACE them for crying out loud, AND they are very interested in getting thier BRAG chapter up and running again. Plus, there aren't just Buellers from Indy involved here as well. Cyclone, Skeeter, FastEd, and a couple others are from out in that direction. We all know there is GREAT riding down there too. I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult for us guys up in Indy to make it there once a month do you? Heck most of us are there at least once a month already. Again, all I am saying is that all of us that are truely interested in participating in a BRAG chapter should talk to BOTH dealerships. So lets all meet at South Side at noon on Saturday, talk to them, then we'll ride to Bloomington and talk to them. After that we can sit down over a cold drink and hash it out. I really feel that the larger number of us show up will have a direct impact on how seriously they will take us, so everyone that has any interest at all, please come along. If nothing else we'll have a good ride and shoot the s%$t a little. Whaddaya say? | ||

Well, since my tranny went south yesterday I won't be able to ride over there Saturday. I have to go to north side of Indy Saturday to pick up some furniture. Sounds like you guys might be in Bloomington by around 2:00 or so. If I'm back from Indy by then, I'll drive over to Bloomington. | ||

i should be there remember that football traffic can slow things down, make for more impaired driving, and put MANY POLICE on main roads. the game starts at 4pm, so getting here by 1:30-2:00 should keep you out of the worst of the traffic. | ||

Ok, different topic: I've been asked by a friend that organizes events for a living if I could put together a Buell Ride/Bike Show for a fund raising event on Saturday October 8th. Those are all the details I have right now. Anyone interested? | ||

Sorry Indy, I'm not in the habit of checking here often or I'd have replied sooner. I'm a soccer-dad from 11:15 to 12:00. My wife is working so I can't ride. I could drive to SS just to be present if it'll help. I'm not sure what happened as SS. At one time they were the top 10 in Buell sales and they had a monthly get-together (named something like American Sportbike). The salesman at the time is now in the finance department, and really seems to be more into Buells than the current Buell salesman. Not to say he's just there to collect a paycheck but the approach is just different. The son of the owner owned/owns one of the early Buells that was a test mule from when the test ride was a set of keys and a map. I did a couple of those in the early days along with a "call if you're gone for more than two hours". Sometime between then and now there's also been a Streetfighters club that it sounds like is not all that strong any more. It's been a shock to me to hear of guys that are buying bikes in Lafayette and Bloomington when SS used to be that strong. I have to admit that the commitment seems to be lacking. The biggest blow was when I walked in, didn't see Buells, and asked the guy at the parts counter if they were getting out of the Buell business. I should have just walked out when the response was "I wish". Then again, it's just one guy and not a company line. I do make it a point not to order from him, though. Bloomington seems to be making it a point right now to support Buells. To be honest, the terrain in the area suits the bike better than Indy or Muncie, bless their frustrated souls. If there are rides I can make, I'll make them. I expect there'd be more for me to be involved in if it were at SS, but truth is that I-B and a couple others are going to be the core group and I'm just tagging along. Go where it feels best. Don't make it complicated -- Just ride. |
