I recently got an extra red tail light and was thinking about smoking it out. I have seen them on ebay before. any ideas of how i can do this myself.... my first guess was to just mask off the out side and lightly paint the inside with black krylon but is there a spray tint that would look better?

Hobby shops have spray tint for model/radio controlled cars. It's made for lexan plastic and those r/c cars get dang hot too. It should be ok for a signal lens.
(I have a can of it here somewhere....interesting idea!!!)

No problem......

I think you found something for me to try this weekend too!!!!
(probably way illegal round here though)

From my last experience, the stuff is real runny. Use real light coats and you should be O.K..

Good luck

any performance auto parts store should have the translucent smoke paint made for car lens .they
split them apart spray the inside of the lens and re-glue the halves together

Well.....
Went to the basement and found the "hobby" spray tint,
took the lens off,
and sprayed about 6(actually I lost count) very light coats on until I thought it was dark enough.

Check it out:
tinted tail lens

Guess I should paint the heads of the screws black too.

When the lights are on, you can't tell much difference at all.

PS ..any tips for polishing Aluminim...

Yea, don't.....
unless you don't mid re-polishing once a week,
for the rest of your life.

Just kidding....

Alum. is hard to keep unless you clearcoat with something after polishing(acrylic, enamel, or..etc).

Others have done it with good results,
too much work for me though. I prefer the "brushed" look.

As for the pasta strainer...
I can't decide if I want to keep it or cut it off. Those turn signals gotta' go though.(F&R)
