I was perusing the Buell website looking at seat alternatives. I had previously considered the select seat, thinking better cushioning would be more comfortable. Now I see this streetfighter seat. http://www.buell.com/en_us/bikes_gear/accessories/productslist.asp?Menu_ID=4&ID= 1933&MITEM=77 It looks like you can scoot your but back farther at high speed, lowering wind resistance. I have two questions: 1. Anyone have any experience with either the select or the streetfighter Buell seats? 2. My XB12Scg has a lowered seat....would the streetfighter seat end up being taller? With a short inseam, I really can't afford additional height. oh yeah, I've looked at Corbin..........Thanks. |

As far as I know, the Select seat hasn't shown up at dealerships yet. Some of us are anxiously awaiting their arrival. Don't know if the Streetfighter is taller or not, but I've heard good things about their comfort. Good luck, Bill |

Hi, I'm one of those waiting for the select seat for my 12s. Dave says in his mail to me "I haven't seen any of the seats in person yet. I doubt they are lower but will need to wait to fit one to a bike to tell you for sure." He was going to call a few people to see if they had any info and get back to me. Tom |

I have the StreetFighter Seat...it is definately taller than the "low" seat and slightly taller than the stocker. I find it much more comfortable than the stock seat. It is still easy to slide side to side in the twisties & the textured material on the sides keep you from falling off From what I heard the seat is made for HD/Buell by Sargent a well know seat manufacturer. |

Stone Mountain H-D/Buell has several Select Seats in Stock. I tried one out in the parking lot a few days ago......I have since purchased it and waiting on a new one in the color I wanted. Man does it feel nice and makes the bike look awesome. Not sure what that V shaped cut out is for except for looks but it sure does make the bike look fast just sitting still. Glitch has the Streetfighter seat and they are basically the same except for the cosmetic V shape in the rear. Other than that .....no difference. One ride on the seat and you will buy it! Look at SMHD/BUELL's banner in sponsor section and talk to Bunny the parts girl. She will hook you up. (Pricing Parts Section) Peter....it will be taller that the CG seat. About an inch or so (Message edited by black_sunshine on September 06, 2005) |

Hey Johnb I'm not joking.....the "v" at the rear of the seat creates an air vortex. This air vortex creates negative pressure exactly at the opposite your own crack, thus creating a cooling effect, canceling the heat on your boys from under the seat. This is true. |

Hi, I think the groove is part of the water cooling system to aid in rider comfort. As you ride in the rain, water is flung up by the rear tire, through the pasta strainer, thereby removing the largest chunks of road debris, then the rain water flows down the grove and into your butt crack, delivering a cool refreshing break from the heat delivered to your front half. I'm glad this topic was brought up. I'm in a toss up between the two but need more info/riding time on each before I can say which is better and what circumstances. Passenger, wet weather (ha!) etc. |

I don't have any experience with the Select or Corbin seats, but I really like my Streetfighter seat. I don't slide back and forth like I did on the stock seat. It is much more comfortable and long rides are much better. I am able to comfortably ride about twice as long now. I am by the way selling my Streetfighter seat so I can convert over to the R rear end setup. If interested check it out in the classifieds. |

ok.....i've made my decision and i'm going with the select seat......ordered it from daves this morning. after reading the above comments and comparing the select, streetfighter and corbin through, this is how i arrived at my decision: 1. the corbin looks and sound good, but when compared to the select looks primitive. the boxy lines and the abrupt rise to the seat back looks crude. 2. the streetfighter is attractive and would let me scoot back further on the seat to lower wind buffeting at high speeds, but......it looks short on the padding/comfort department. 3. the select is an improved design. the gel inserts, the curvaceous lines of the seat panels and the smooth design lines really appear superior. So, i've voted with my wallet (or credit card) and will report back with a debrief, once i get the seat and test it. thanks for everyone's comments and opinions and thanks again to daves...you da man. My Select seat came in today. ThankYou Dave!!! It was well worth the wait. I'm not going to try it out till late Saturday cause my rear tire is too damn sketchy now. I got a pair of Scorp Syncs waiting to go on Sat morning. But from sitting on it I can say it's nice & thick. My 12S is a 12Scg so all I have to compare is the low seat. The Select is definitely taller. My cg is now the perfect height & my wrists seem to have a better angle to the bars just from that little bit of height difference. It's really hard to say for sure till I ride it so I'll just close my trap till Sat night. On a side note, It looks killer. Especially with the air box cover mask. |

Metalstorm or Black Sunshine... pics! do you guys have any with it installed on your bike? I want that seat BAD. I've got the R pegs on my S and I'm hoping the Select is a little taller than my stocker, should make my ergos perfect. Does anyone know if the older streetfighter tail bag (i think thats what they used to call it) fits on the Select seat? I just picked one up super cheap, hoping i can still use it when i snag the Select. |

I took the strap off to see what it would look like. I liked it. I would have kept it off but one thing bothered me. when you looked at it from the side you could see the the notch that's formed into the bottom of the seat for the strap. It's a minor little thing but for some reason it annoyed me to where i just put the strap back on. On the plus side, the strap is just loose enough to conform with the rest of the seat when sat on. |

Hey Metalstorm Maybe if you leave the strap off for a while, the notch will disappear? Then its no-probem.... |
