the ECM is factory burned. you cannot at present make any adjustment to the fuel curve, however with the factory headers you most likely dont need to. |

Thx but being a computer man I know that this process can be done, that is flashing the ecm to make it a race ecm, on ebay one guy is selling one, so if he can do it so can I, just neeed soft and hardware, here is the link below fab http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4571819030&sspagen ame=ADME%3AL%3ARTQ%3AFR%3A1 |

The "racing ECM" is also factory burned. It does have a bit more range for adjusting fuel and whatnot but for the most part it can't be adjusted. SUPPOSEDLY there are ones used by various race teams that can be mapped and "flashed" as needed but these are generally not available to the public. |

If we were to forget about what is or not available to the public, an ecm is nothing more than an eprom and calculator that drives settings depending on sensors, with a cable interface (I forgot to say that I am the chief computer enginneer of a hospital) and from the time someone is willing to help with a few maps, program and cabled feed data line, I am sure that anyone with a little computer knowledge could do the right trick. eg if manufacturer gives out a map considering emmission control (eg lean mixture) it should not be so hard as to change map to a richer setting and get the better out of the engine. There has to be a way to get this computer stuff happening, one has done it as mentioned above, that is re flashing a stock icm, mind you, with proper equipment, a race icm eprom could be copied onto a stock eprom.... |

He's got a pile of dirty parts in a box with what looks to be a stock ECM in the pic. Sounds to me like he just wants to off the parts for some easy cashish, have you emailed him about how the 'racing image' was flashed onto the stock ECM? |

I recently spoke to someone at technoresearch and he told me they are working on a program to change your injector firing time and so on in the ecm. They plan to have it completed sometime real soon.He asked me to check back in about a month to see how they are progressing. |

In reply to typeone, I have a spare stock ecm maybe I will open it up and buy another one for next to nothing on ebay, Once I have pulled on apart (I will definitely know what is inside), on the other hand, all ECM's (eg audi TT etc...) have an eprom that can be either changed or reprogrammed, And it could not be different for the DH/Buell ecm's.. fab |

I'd say the info from Hd xb12r and Technoresearch is a great sign that we may see tools to help us tweak the ECM like you're looking to do Therenardo. I'd still be curious if you emailed the eBay guy. Maybe he's got some tricks (?) but you'd find those tricks here too i bet, this board houses some insanely great 'tweakers' who know their stuff. |

Exactly, when I asked the ebay Guy where he got the job done he simply replied "its already flashed, just hook it up if you win the auction. " maybe I should look up if some harley has the same type ecm and make a copy . I basically want to set it all up myself, no thrills...ans knowing that you can find tools for BMW's Audi etc...the Buell ecm must have the same technology, and I am looking into it to get the job done efficiently |

Dean, See http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/17143/162217.html?1134667502, and read past the airbox testing section. DirectLink works, but I wouldn't quite call the SW "done" yet. I've successfully flashed both XB9 stock and XB12 race ECMs. The stock XB12 ECM is in work now and will be tested as soon as I get the beta code for it. Tube frame testing will occur afterwards. Documentation is sparse, and it took a fair amount of time to figure out how to get good results. I'm writing a DirectLink tuning guide now. Doing it without a wideband data acquisition system at minimum, and with a Dynojet 250 preferred, is folly. |
