Thats right... Ladies and gentleman we as motorcycle riders should act on this... There is a proposed I-3 that is going to run from Savanah Georgia to Knoxville Tennessee... This is going to cut right through the Great Smokey Mountain National Park... They are also planning on getting rid of Hwy 129 and put the Interstate right through the center of the Dragons tail... I am not usually a politcal person unless your messing with my right to bear arms or my right to good roads to ride on... This time they are planning on destroying one of the best motorcycle roads in the US... by far the best on the eastcoast... I know some of you don't even know what I am talking about but for those who do... I know I love that road and don't want it destroyed for an Interstate... just to fix Atlanta's traffic problems... True, go to www.tailofthedragon.com, read the article and voice your opinion. I don't think it will happen because of the cost and the fact that it will run through a National Forest. But, don't get upset now, with this administration, I wouldn't be surprised if it did. So speak up now against this stupid idea!! | ||

That's insane. How are they going to compensate for the income that the Dragon brings to that area. Sure there are lots of people that go to the Smokies, but there is a huge following at the Dragon for motorcyclist and cager alike. And I had plans for my future generations being able to play there as well. Duc I'm usually not politically active either, but this just struck a nerve. | ||

They just need to ban trucks from that road. Killboy always has pics up of an eighteen-wheeler completely cutting off the opposite lane. Build a nice, flat, straight road somewhere else, I sez. | ||

guys I drive an 18 wheeler and the idiots who are dumb enough to take one on that road are just that plain STUPID!!!hope you don't mind a Blaster posting here  | ||

Already done... I suggested that if they do proceed that they utilize bridges to get over the existing road where they need to. I'm all for progress, but I mentioned that there are a number of small businesses that rely on the revenue generated by the motorcycles AND cars that show up to traverse "The Tail of the Dragon". |
