Pamela and I both have the time off and are planning to be there. A Splash and Border Raid virgin, she's looking forward to more fun. However, I doubt we'll be able to stay at the resort. In fact, I'm already looking for something a bit less spendy, especially since we don't gamble (no need for a casino) and wouldn't be there during the day anyway. But hey, we're on board for trip nonetheless. Cheers, Eric |

Chris has been doing some researching....does not know what to do.... Our garage is empty almost.... Loni |

Sportyeric is right! I just returned from Whistler and the highway is undergoing a serious upgrade. There’s a lot of construction and the completed sections have been straightened with CAGE traffic in mind. Hubing in Penticton gives us possibilities that Border Raid hasn't had before. My suggestion is to leave Penticton on route to Kelowna via Hwy 97. This is a scenic and casual route through some of the Okanogan’s wine region to Westside Road. Westside Road to Vernon is rated as DH11in the Destination Highways B.C. edition and is an excellent technical connector. http://www.destinationhighways.com/dh/7SouthOkanagan/11sum.htm From there we head to Destination Highways DH2. http://www.destinationhighways.com/dh/8NorthOkanagan/2sum.htm I'd give this one a 1st place finish if I where the judge. At the turn around point (that's right, you get this beauty in both directions) is a quaint free ferry to Fauquier and some of the best pie in B.C. Lunch and back. Total trip should be approx. 340M./550KM. Look it over and post comments. For the Friday night group I would suggest a cool ride up Green Mountain and over to Hwy3A. This baby is DH6. How cool is that? Connect DH6 to Twin Lake Road to Oliver, south on Hwy 97 to Osoyoos and shread the Anarchist Pass. Quote: The huge curves on the longest continuous ascent of any highway in Canada are vast, plentiful and concentrated. No sooner are you finished one and you’re into the next. And the next. And the next. http://www.destinationhighways.com/dh/7SouthOkanagan/24sum.htm Retrace to Oliver and DH32 through Okanagan Falls. Approx. total: 120M./185KM. You'll be saying "Wow It's only Saturday! Can’t wait for tomorrow". Cheers FunJmmy (Message edited by funjimmy on July 27, 2005) |

I'm banging back 14 hour tours back-to-back. A day of rest on Sunday would be good but if Harve needs company I could do a little both days. |

I just got off the phone with the Lakeside Resort & Casino in Penticton. They advise that to date only 5 rooms have been reserved and that they have released the balance of rooms for the general public. If you are planning on attending Border Raid and wish to stay at the Lakeside Resort & casino, I urge you to reserve your room now. Cheers FunJimmy |

Don, Lorraine, Craig and I are planning to leave Burnaby/New Westminster to head to Penticton Friday morning at 8AM. That should give us lots of time to take some of the good roads, once we are out of the big city. That's all of the planning I know about. Do the American's have a Penticton ETA? |

John, I am going to be leaving Vancouver, WA Thurs afternoon and land at Deb and Bobs for the night. Friday morning we are heading to Penticton via Hwy 20 to 97. (That's what Bob told me yesterday) I would say that if all goes well we should be there around 3 or 4 in the afternoon, maybe sooner>???? Chris has to work Friday and then will be heading up via truck with bike in the back. Can't wait to get out and do some riding! Loni |

We're looking at mid-afternoon arrival depending on how much sightseeing we do along the way. Going to go over North Cascades Highway then up via 97. Mid to upper 70's forecast! Woot! |

Looking forward to seeing everyone there! Greeneric, we will probably all meet up at the place where most of us are staying: Penticton Lakeside Resort & Casino 21 Lakeshore Dr. West, Penticton, BC Toll Free: 1-800-663-9400 or (250) 493-8221 If you aren't staying there, then it's in your best party-interest to make you way over there for meet, eat and lots of merriment. As for ride meetings, again I'd suggest we talk about that over drinks on Friday nite @ the hotel. There are a couple of restaurants at the base of the hotel, we'll be around. You could also have the front desk ring a few key rooms... like Bob & Deb's, Ours, John's, Loni & Chris and whoever else is staying there. They won't give out room #s (and we don't know them yet), but they will ring up to the room. Ride safe and have fun! Ride on, Lo |

Hey FunJimmy, as mentioned a few posts up, Don, Lo, Craig and I are planning a 8AM departure from NW/Burnaby. Heading over to take HWY 7 out of the lower mainland. You made Craig and I wait for you and the boys the last time, so I am leary about offering to meet again Any thoughts on where or when you might be able to join up with us? |

Gonna be awesome! Yes, as John said we're leaving @ 8am, taking the Lougheed/Hwy 7 route with the twistest roads available on the route up. Of course we'll have to do Old Hedley and Green Mtn. Hope we can find them okay! Buellnuts, you have a safe ride up with your crew. Good adventures but not too tired to party it up @ the Resort! |
