Most of the parts are available to build a flattracker (see links section). I dont believe the factory even put out one 'XR500'! Check this site out for photos too. |

The only factory thing about the factory bike is the motor/drivetrain - lol - like almost all XB development for competition - most of the development for the Blast flat - tracker has been done by others - heck - the only thing the HD team did was use 20 year old XR tech and apply it to the Blast, and they wonder why they didn't win more - lol - heck - a maxed out NHRS kit will approach their hp, beat their torque and be streatable - thats sad - one should expect more from HD efforts - speaks well of NHRS though - Buell - though has been aiding privateers and trying stuff out, so at least they are helping in research and stuff and are trying to keep an active hand in the pot - lol - I was always taught - if your going to race - race to win! Nuff said -

Does anybody have a set of the CrossRoads FRAME MOUNTED rearsets they would like to sell? I am gathering parts to turn my Blast into a trackbitch next year. |

Does anyone know where I could get a seat latch pin? I just bought a Blast for my wife with the low seat and picked up a standard seat off EBay for when I want to ride it. An extra latch pin would making swapping seats about a 10 second job! |

I just take out the pin from one seat to the other only takes seconds!! but like EZ said the stealership or order from Chicago Harley

Switching pins may only take seconds, but unless you marked the length for the different saddles you will be adjusting it for minutes to get a tight fit.
Conclusion, I coughed up the six bucks or whatever and bought a spare pin from Hal's. Was both in stock and cheap at twice the price. Especially when you consider you get to pay some astronomical shipping price after you get robbed for a cheap part on Ebay!
Now, my saddle changes are truly measured in seconds. |

has anyone mounted up a set of fog lights or driving lights on the Blast? if so what kind and how did you do it. I'm looking to increase my visibility to other drivers and nighttime lighting. something like the lights alot of cruisers have mounted off side of forks but was thinking along lines of projector beam driving lights |

On option is I switched from the stock set up to an XB style dual headlamp set up running 55watts on one side and 100 watts amber on the other. People tell me its real bright. Its the Brymar Dominator lights (see links section) and the will plug right in to the stock harness.
PIAA also makes a single flat light that should fit under the stock headlight (under triple tree).
You can also run a headlamp modulator in one of the lights for even more daytime visibility. (I dont like to run both on a modulator because some idiots will think you're flashing your high beams). |

thanks gearheaderiko. I'm thinking of finding a way to mount a set of projector beam lights outside of forks below haedlight.will look in the a.m. to see if i can find a decent place to mount and will let you know.but i do like your setup as well |

ok guys and gals here's a question.I am preparing to mount a set of 2 inch round driving lights on my blast.I plan to do this by using some 1inx3/8 in thick angle(for stiffness)aluminum.I am planning to use the 2 bolts that are on plate that holds front turn signals and mount driving lights below and slightly outboard of headlight.Does this sound OK? Also would it be practical to splice them into headlight cicruit so they will be on when headlights are on? I know I'm full of questions here lately but I really appreciate the help. Thanks |

Dennis Kirk and JP cycles (www...) both sell fork mounting brackets if that doesnt work out.
How many watts are the lights? There is a mathematical equation to figure out maximum wattage, though I think I'm running about 135 without a problem.(Run wattage at your own risk). However you can hook the lights directly to the battery (use a fuse) and turn them on with the headlights by using a relay. (essentially run a wire from the low or high beam side of the headlight, or whatever else you want to trigger the fog lights to come on, and run that wire to the relay. All the power for the lights comes from the battery and is run through the relay allowing you to run a higher wattage.The wire from the headlight just trips the relay). |

what type of relay?I will check on wattage in the a.m. but was looking at a set at wally world.was thinking of the aluminum cause it's only 7 or 8 bucks at home depot. and I would like them on for both high and low beams so could i run relay off wire (BE) that goes into light power for switch? I am looking at wiring diagram for 05 this is where i got wire info |

Use a starter relay. Dennis Kirk carries them (as do others)universal type for HD (maybe others). You could hook it up to any power lead that comes on with the ignition switch. It has 4 wires (ground #85, power in from battery w/fuse #30, power out to lights #87, ignition or handlebar switch #86).
I would suggest adding a switch or quick disconnect for the fog lights (for emergency disconnects).
I'll have to look at the Blast wiring diagram tomorrow to check the BE wire. |

when I hook up the relay do I run headlight power from same post as driving lights? I picked up a 12volt 4 pin relay at advance for less than $7 and it has what you are saying.also the lights I'm looking at are 55 watts.do I run wire for ignition switch to #86,ground out #85 battery to #7 with the circled 30 and then run power out to headlight and drivinglights both from #87? |

Headlight wiring stays the same (stock).The foglights will be on their own circuit.
The new wiring is as you've written.(86,85,30 & 87)
Running the fog lights with the relay means you can run whatever wattage the charging system will handle without overloading and overheating the headlight circuit. |

will it work if I run headlight circuit in on 86 and out on 85? that would complete the headlight circuit but will it close the switch? I know I'm being a pain but am just trying to get this right on first try. thanks for the help |

#85 is ground only.
If the wire you are running from the headlight circuit comes on with the ignition and stays on regardless of low or high beam, that will be fine. It will only add the power to switch the relay to the headlight circuit and not the foglamps power usage. |

Does anyone know which size hex wrench is needed for the chrome swingarm covers from Buell?
9/64 is too small and 5/32 is too big.
Is it 3mm? |

Its not 3mm, sounds like the hex on the bolt (nut?) is way too far out of spec for a particular size to be determined.
3.5mm = 0.137794
9/64 = 0.140625
5/32 = 0.15625
4mm = 0.157480
Have you tried a six point box end or socket? Sometimes a six point will work when and 12 point will not.

Contact American Sport Bike for end caps - black of course - for the mirror stem holes - they are inexpensive and clean up he look - how are the levors working for you - do they make the pull a lot less to be worth it?

A little black plastic cap that plugs into the mirror holes - about a buck apiece - origionally made for the Lightnings for when the owners decide to go to barend mirrors - most do.

Correction EZ. Originally equipped on the S3 to plug the mirror mounts since they are mounted on the fairing. |
