Today I had to fix an oil leak from the stator plug that oiled the back tire pretty well so we were spinning on dyno runs.Put in a 240 main jet in the Mikuni(sewer pipe) and filled all the nitrous bottles.Let you know when we run again. Hey Henrik, what ya doing around Sept 14-17 ?I got another record with your name on it?? (Message edited by firemanjim on August 31, 2005) |

A big shout out to my buellin' brothers from last years WOS. Your humble 130 club member steveO here. I see you're getting ready for this years WOS and I thought I'd touch base. I'm going to be going to the BUB event this year. The bike ran so good last year I haven't done much to it but a gear change and some minor streamlining mods. Gonna use the BUB event to make a couple of trial runs at 150 before spending the big money at USFRA. With all those AMA titles up for grabs, I was hopin to find some other Buellers' at the event. I'm making the trip solo, so I can always use some help with the bike. Anyone available just give me a ping. Leaving CA on Monday 9/5, will be ready to run 9/6-7-8, heading home 9/9. Staying at the Nugget. Hoping these dry northernly winds are doing some nice to the salt. Looking forward to seeing the big bikes make some big passes. Later |

Steve, good luck with your bike.Just can't do both the Bub's and WOS and we(Terry Parsley and Vallejo Buell) have been planning on WOS all year so kinda committed.I know Woz is gonna be there helping commentate. He should be able to hook you up.And If I remember ,so is Glenn Zaretzka from our A.S.B.N. group. If all goes well are you coming to WOS? |

All-I was just out there for work and the area was drying up nicely, didn't make it to the actual flats but was about 30 min away and it didn't rain a drop while there, hope all goes well, track stays dry and tight, and good luck. |

Well darn.Just found out my son James has a big trade show that will interfere with B'ville. He is deep into his skateboarding so HAS to go to further his career in his chosen extreme sport. So looks like I have an extra bike that has 3--count em--3 open records.Won't be 200 mph but it will be fun!! Henrik, anytime you want to come and play I will have a seat for you.You may be forced to go quite fast, though.Cuz next year we're going big!! Oh,and just picked up Redline Oils as a sponsor--cool!Got a tour of the factory today, just down the road from Vallejo HD Buell. |

Jim, I had a leaky Pingle and ended up putting a thick o-ring on, those gaskets just quit working for me after a few months. If I remember right, it was a while ago, it just fit inside the gasket tight around the valve tube and I believe I slightly chamfered the hole in the bottom of the tank to help the o-ring seat better. I did it about 4 years ago, and haven't had to mess with it yet...(knock on wood...) |

FMJ, good to hear from you. I'll be looking for doz guys at BUB, if they don't find me first(I'm the silver S-1 with the pithy air-tech fairing). As far as going from BUB to WOS, I'm just leaving that up to fate, gotta confess, it's starting to jones me now. If my son was a little older(he's 14) I might consider loaning him to you as a rider for the 650, he's starting to show the signs. I'm working real hard to try and teach him to be safe, skilled and speedy at the same time, despite the oxymoron. Feeling the countdown. |

I had a leaky Pingle once, but a couple of penicillin shots cleared it up...

Jim After that fiasco with the S2 exhaust I feel I owe you.... Just the idea of a part from me on a Bonneville machine is a kick in the butt.... Question though, is weight not a factor cause I just put set screws in the extra front hub holes on mine to seal it up????? |

Weight definitely not a factor at Bonneville, might end up adding ballast to swingarm. You should see the lead weights on some of the high HP turbo bikes. With the several mile accelleration you have lots of time to overcome the weight. On my front wheel when the rotor is off there are large slots open on that side plus the bolt holes.Already stuck button headed bolts on speedo side. And aerodynamics come into play so did not want a big old brake rotor hanging in the wind. We had a "fiasco",my memory is really slipping---- |

Big bummer. World of Speed Sept 14-19 2005 has been cancelled. They site bad conditions as the main reason. Check their website for more info. http://www.saltflats.com/results091405.htm I'm bummed. Timbo |

From the USFRA website-- World of Speed -2005 Has officially been cancelled!! U.S.F.R.A. officials standing on the race course have decided to cancel World of Speed due to deteriorating course conditions. Standing water on the saltflats has been blowing generally toward the race course we intended to use, and conditions there are not improving. Photos and additional information Saturday Sept 03, 2005 1:30 PM. Timbo beat me to the punch. That well and truly sucks.I have been busting but to get ready, have the stinking days off work already, not to mention everyone that was planning on being there. Puzzles me that Bub's event is still on,they posted weather and course update this morning and have 5 miles of dry course. Sure hope oct looks better. |

Dave, no. That's the problem with the cheapest tickets. It's fly or lose the money. At least I'll be at work, so I won't be losing the money by not working. Self employed you see. regards Steve. |

Steve, that really sucks. At least the money I have invested in bike and supplies will carry over to next meet in oct--as long as that one is not cancelled for whatever reason.Any way to change your destination and fly into somewhere more scenic---NYC or SF??I have a spare bike you are welcome to--course it's a Triumph Sprint ST and not a Buell, but cannot promise more than that as work etc gets weird at this time of year. |

Peter, FMJ, Bluz, thanks for the thoughts. I'm going to work, that way I miss the racing, but I earn a weeks wages. The problem with the cheapest of tickets is you can do nothing with them. Can't transfer them, can't change destinations. Nothing. I've asked. I guess that's why they're cheap. Steve. |

Rats,I was looking forward to meeting you,Steve. I wrote a scathing letter to the USFRA telling them what wimps they were for calling the meet so early on,when they had posted that they would make the call on sunday the 4th(not sat morn). And the Bub's event is going on starting today.Joe Amo is there and so is Aaron Wilson. Both have posted that there is minimal water and the 5 1/2 mile short course looks good.Weather forecast looks great for even more drying. www.landracing.com will have updates and pictures.Figures that I have both bikes running really well and was almost completely packed and ready to go. |
