I got an intermittent squeak on the way home just now. It didn't modulate with application of brakes or with acceleration/deceleration. Is this a symptom of a wheel bearing failure? I didn't feel anything odd through the bike. |

Confirmed Kill! Yes it was the bearing in the front left. I was REDICULOUSLY lucky that this happened three miles from my house at 35 miles per! I needed a new tire anyways

Nate: where is the seal did it go away? glad you caught it, I have to ask the squeal was audible on take off? there is a faint high piched noise that I pick up on take off and I have not been able to pin it down now I'm wanting to take off the wheels on my seld for a look. good luck |

It wasn't faint at all. It echoed off of a nearby factory building. about the seal: see the top pic? there was shrapnel sticking out of the lip. I guess I should have drawn an arrow. I ripped off the seal with a pick. OH! and I didn't feel anything unusual through the bars. |
