Does anyone know how to clean the cityx translucent body work?? gas spilled and left all that haze! Where can you buy something to fix this huge problem? thanks everybody | ||

Try the Novus 1 & 2. It worked for some of my small spots. But if ya got it all over I'm not sure it would be enough. Novus 1 is just an anti static treatment. Novus 3 works for really bad damage, Novus 2 works for lighter damage (or as a followup for Novus 3). The Harley Sealer Glaze is the step down from Novus 2. I have the Novus 1, but hardly ever use it. It will come back to a perfect shine, just take your time. Pull the airbox cover off the bike, go inside and get comfortable and slap a DVD in the player, and work at a relaxed comfortable pace. Don't use a toothbrush, it will really damage the cover. Just follow the Novus and sealer glaze instructions and use cotton cloths. The only place it gets hard to clean up is inside the raised letters, it's just hard to get in there to clean it. But with patience it can be done, and if worst comes to worst you could always use dental floss to remove the raised letters and rubber X, get the box perfect again, then stick them back down with something. It looks far worse then it is, take your time and you can make it nearly perfect again. If anyone wants to send me or recommend sealer samples, I will test them with real gas and see what works best. So far, the Harley Sealer glaze is the best, but still only gives you a couple of seconds before the etching begins. | ||

How to fix this huge problem....watch what you are doing when you are pumping your gas !...you have now wasted money on spilt gas and cleaning materials ..haahhaa | ||

Thanks for that helpful insight Buelluk  Anyone that has a 9sx and has not splashed the airbox cover at least once is not riding it enough. Minor spills clean up *really* easily, major ones clean up easily enough. You are right though, it should be possible to simply avoid the major splashes. Minor ones are virtually impossible to avoid, at least with US pumps, but they clean up easily. Overall it is something to be aware of, but not a big deal (once your learn your first hard lesson). $200 is expensive... until you consider getting any other "tank" replaced, with matching paint, on any other motorcycle I am aware of. I would guess $200 is typically the cost of the part, and you are looking at another $250 by the time the paint is done. |
