So, for the upteenth time, I'm watching the "Lost Boys" (you know, the Vampire movie with Kiefer Sutherland) and trying to figure out what the motorcycles they are riding started life as. David (Kiefer Sutherland's character) appears to be riding a chopped XT500 or something similar. They all have really nifty looks, part chopper, part motard, with a little bit of cafe racer and streetfighter thrown in for good measure. Now that I think of it, they have a "When I grow up, I want to be like Tramp's S2." look about them. Anyone happen to have any pictures of them?? I can't find Jack on the net and would appreciate any pics.  James | ||

I had a '78 XT500, that was a pretty neat ride. I thought that was one of the best looking bikes that ever came out of Japan. Made me think of a BSA 441 Victor that was easy to start and trouble free. When I decided to set it free, I was still taping a sign on it in my driveway (asking for twice as much as I paid for it) when the next owner pulled in. Jack | ||

Was that a Victor or a Victim? One of my college roommates had one of those things. It sure was a moody bike. Didn't Sammy Tanner ride a Victim in the early 60's at tracks like Ascot Park in California and the AMA circut? Lots of desert rats like those things also. | ||

Well it sort of had the look and feel of a Victor. I trail road the XT500 a little but something was not right in the geometry. I could not get it to power slide. It wanted to not slide at all and then all of a sudden it wanted to slide on both ends. I think it was a street bike in disguise. I rode a Victor in the dirt one time in Spain in the early 70's and it was not a bad ride. That was on a motocross track, the 441 did not have the best suspension but it went pretty good. The Bultacos were waxing me but I always got waxed when I raced, no matter what I was on. Jack | ||

Come on you Hollywood types... Any pictures of the Lost Boys Bikes?? Details??? Tramp- How long did it take for the Devolution to occur?? IIRC, There's a similar S2 in the Milwaukee area with a white frame and orange bodywork. I remember seeing it at the 20th anniversary. Anyone remember that bike?? James | ||

what is this thing called "Bodywork"? lessee- i decided all at once to sell the bodywork to a cat i met on the boards... in about 20 minutes my s2 was nekkid.... i never did like that organ grinder seat or the heavy fairing mount system, and that inane tailsection was plain annoying and rattly. the bags and lowers, alone, earned me like $650- and much like the blues guitarist said of his soul, explaining why he sold it to the devil ("Oh brother, where art thou"  : "i wasn't usin' it" | ||

Sammy DID ride a victor, and they were the scoot of choice for a bit at the late, greatly lamented Santa Fe Speed Way (Only one speedWAY has a track of CLAY . . . . . ) unless they discovered bultacos, of course | ||

"Didn't Sammy Tanner ride a Victim in the early 60's..." I think I remember Tanner among the legendary names that raced AMA flat track on the West Cost back then but the Victor was not on the scene yet. I lived in San Francisco in the early 60's and there was some pretty good AMA Class A racing there then. Jack |
