Congrats, Roc. Don't worry about it, Galen. The MOST promient Badwebber is quite religious and castigated me some time ago for using inappropriate language. Its his site and his rules. I don't think any, or many of us object but he would certainly be within his rights to remove the offending pic from the site. Its a sensitive matter for some. Don't stir the pot. |

The Demo Trailer at Paradise does not have any new bikes in it. No Ullyssis. It got here early and I checked. That's the only one I wanted to try. Oh well, got my rear wheel in the shop waiting for a tire to arrive Tuesday. Looks like another Kayaking weekend. I ought to check for sure, but I gotta be about a mile out of the doghouse by now with the Mrs. That gets me thru Border Raid and then some! Probably not far enuf out to get away with another ebay motorcycle purchase.....or am I? Hmmmmmmmm. Time to put the last load of laundry in the washer, shampoo the carpets and mix up a tall pitcher of Margarita's for the freezer (she loves em). |

PDX - I think they open at 9:30 and I suspect rides begin not far after that, although organization seems to be an issue. I think I will be there around 2. |

Roc, Congrats on the new tax deduction! How about a wedding pic? Did the two of you drive off into the sunset on the turbo S2, lol. Trixie and I will be celebrating our 20th anniversary in August. Time goes fast when your with the one you love. Best wishes to both of you. Galen, Don't worry about the narrow minded pricks of the world. There is nothing wrong with the tattoos on Betty, I really like what you've done to her. The image is not insulting to any religion or belief system, it is just an image nothing else. It's this narrow minded attitude that limits my participation on this board. |

Galen, That's great if you can make it Sunday. I plan on leaving Latus ~0930 (don't like to be first one out or last one to leave!). As for the artwork on Betty, it's all about expression. I should think it's more an expression of you rather that what you think other might like...so screw 'em. You could always say that you did that after a crash and both you and the bike were upside down! So, was in Seattle area over the weekend. Pam and I had a nice ride Friday going up Whidbey Island to Deception Pass. Got an early start so missed most of the traffic on the way up. Lunch stop in Coupeville and checked out the whale skeleton on display there. At Deception Pass, a duo rode up, one on an HD and one on a 'Busa. The Busa had throwover bags and a seat with a back rest. Looked kind of wierd. Guy said he and his wife use it as a tourer. Anyway, only saw one other Triumph the whole day, a T100 we pulled up next to in Poulsbo, a commuter on his way home. Nice guy. By this time, it was mid afternoon and traffic on the island was starting to get thick. I think there's only one small stretch of road with a speed of 55, otherwise the highest posted is 50. Also, folks apparently don't feel they have to use the slow vehicle turnouts (including loaded log trucks) when they're blocking a line of cars. Hence, there was some (ahem) passing using said slow moving vehicle lane. However due to a lot of unmarked (and marked) popos, this was done with utmost care and discretion. Took the ferry to Port Townsend then over Hood Canal to Poulsbo and then the ferry back to Seattle. Damn it's fun passing miles of cars waiting in line and zipping up to the booth, then being first on and first off the boat! |

Greeneric, Sounds like alot of the area Chris and I covered a few years ago. Love the area, hate the traffic! Ferries are great riding! Love the first on, first off rule they have. See you in Canada! Loni |

-NEWS FROM THE LURKERS LAIR- I just returned from a GREAT training ride put on by Doc Wongs riding clinic. I don't know if there really is a "Doc Wong" but the guys (and gals)who ran it did a really good job. As I understand it, each month the focus is on one aspect of riding. There was an introduction of topic, an explanation of what was meant and a Q&A. While the waivers were passed around groups formed according to skill level. Group leaders were assigned and we went outside to form up. Abilities ranged from first timers to experienced road racers. There was only one other Buell rider there. He was riding a XB12R. He also was riding in the fast group! Before he left he told me how to dial in the rear shock of my S3T, loaned me his screwdriver and walked me through the process. I forgot your name(my bad),but man THANKS!! All in all a good experience. Also a good alternative to self instruction. Would be nice to see more Buells there. I know you're out there. First Sunday of every month. If interested let me know. Irish |

I'm looking for someone to share a room in Penticton for Saturday and Sunday. Any singles? Failing that, I may consider hauling a tent and sleeping bag. Off line 'til Thursday. |

Roc, who's that handsome stud dancing with your wife? Gorgeous photo bubba. You obviously married way way above yourself. Way to go! I am celebrating today, 35 years married to my first wife. Oops. Only wife. But we were sweethearts at 16, so it's really 40 years together. Sportyeric, you can room with me. If you promise not to snore louder than me. Greeneric. I had to toss some bids in on the Ducati ST4 just to get the price up. What a collection that new SPUDMAN has got up for sale. |

There is a real Doc Wong--he's a chiropractor in the Bay Area and has been to some of our A.S.B.N. meetings. |

If this riding clinic is named for him, Doc Wong must have made quite an impact. For these people to hold a clinic just to help other motorcyclists become better riders, and to name it after someone in another state says a-lot about that persons character. Regardless if this is the same Doc Wong or not- I highly recomend these clinics. If you're already comfortable riding in traffic and want to improve. I believe it is worth a look. In one day I learned more about going around corners than I did in 5 years and 40,000 plus miles of riding on my own. |

You're on, Shotgun. And Galen. I don't intend to be there 'til Saturday, though. (And can't really afford to spring for halfers Friday if I'm not there.) What your plans? If Vancouver on Friday night, I can provide some accomadation. My condolences to family and friends of Gordon. I've met him at SPLASH, n'est-ce pas? Just got Betty back on the road after she tryed to shake herself apart on SPLASH! Super BOB welded the broken back together, and we're just waiting for the flag to drop on BordeRaid! Been thinkin' alot about getting yelled at by Blake for the cross on my bike. Er, upside-down cross on my bike. BOB asked if it was for Satan? No, it stands for me not beliving in Christian mythology. And that MY Dog has a sense of humor. I got nothing against Jesus. Hell, if He shows up I would ride with Him anytime... and anyone who knows me knows I'm an irreverent little stinker who loves everyone he sees. So see ya sooner, Galen |

My Buell 2001 M2L for sale in classifieds at the Badweb discount price of $2500. Running great! Sportyeric, your girlfriend got a ride yet? This is perfect, low, and ugly. Nobody will steal her and if she drops it in the parking lot, it's just a matter of another $5 can of Xylon paint man. Lots of extras. If Mary couldn't count so well, I'd hide her in the back of the garage. But I want a sports tourer next. |

I had always held with some skepticism the reports of deer being halved by motorcycles. Until.... So I'm working some overtime yesterday evening and it had been a relatively uneventful day until about 7:15 when I get the call..."injury accident, Gordon Creek road and Trout Creek road (this is between Corbett and Bull Run in the Columbia Gorge), motorcycle versus deer." I get there, along with the requisite EMS folks from the local volunteer fire dept, to find the driver sitting on the side of the road, conscious. One red Arai full face helmet with no side left unscathed was by his side. I mean it was crunched on the sides, top, and front. He had a fairly thin leather jacket on and it was basically shredded. Gloves were toast. He was only wearing Levis which EMS cut off. Lots of road rash on his legs and thighs. Then I went to go find the deer. It has been cleved clean in half. No . So here's some venison for thought... Point of impact to bike resting point=390ft! Point of impact to driver resting point=303ft. (It was kind of unclear at what point driver and bike separated). Point of impact to front half of deer=70ft. Point of impact to rear half of deer=212ft. (Lots of miscellaneous Bambi carnage scattered along the way). Driver admitted to "high 80's" for speed, but based on some witnesses I'm thinking it was closer to triple digits. (Oh, we didn't issue any tickets, btw). The bike was (I emphasise was) a Honda cbr1000f. It was covered with deer goo, too. So, we all know this, but watch out for deer especially around dusk on those country roads. Wear your protection! Be safe. |
