I've been told that some Buells are fitted with a Bank Angle Sensor which cuts the engine if lean angle excedes a set limit.....the sensor assumes you have fallen off!! Anyone know anything about this gizmo? To what bikes is it fitted and at what angle does it trigger or is it a myth? |

It is no myth. Don't know all the particulars, but it is mounted near the ecm in the XB9S, and the bike won't run if you install it wrong. (Don't ask:-) Or if you lay it down. I believe that most bikes have it, could be wrong though. |

Here's what I know. from previous threads, the ECM controls a number of parameters, including fuel flow, air mixture, measurements of the cam position, air density, throttle position, engine rpm..... and also bike angle of bank. If the bike angle of bank exceeds 55º the fuel flow is cut off. I'm sure this is a safety feature should you lay the bike down. my 2 cents. |

It's right by the ECM on Firebolts. At 55 degrees I doubt it's a problem like on some other bikes (GSXR's) where people fill them with silicone to prevent cutout even on a trackday. |

Don't worry about it. The bank angle sensor doesn't function unless the bike falls over. If you're leaning into a turn, the sensor thinks the bike is still vertical due to centripital acceleration. |

I also belive that if you do drop your bike it wont let it start right away when you pick it up. there is like a 10 min wait before it will re-set. im not sure if the buells bank angle is like this but i know the fuel injected H-D's one is. Will |

I left mine dangling when I was replacing my headlamp. Would not start. Could not figure that one out for awhile. Had a old 79 Yamaha that had mercury in a glass tube that did the same thing. Lean over to far and the engine dies. Not comforting in slow speed maneuvers. |

Bike will run about 2-3 seconds after the initial "laydown,drop" and yes it will start immediatly, like firebolt 1203 said, don't ask how I know. But I can say that with left side footpeg folded all the way up, the engine was still running strong, so the cutoff angle I am not sure about! |

Tip sensor, tip sensor, tip sensor. I know the service manual says "bank angle sensor". It's wrong. Take the bike to Daytona on the high banks and get up to speed and lean/bank that bike over past the supposed limit... it'll keep right on going. It's a tip sensor darnit. |

If I read you guys right this thing does exist but even in extreme circumstances (the track for example) it will not have any effect as long as you haven't fallen off.....right? Tip Sensor......I stand corrected |

Must be connected, will throw a trouble code if not working or not connected. Can be relocated but must be mounted in the same dimensional manner......ex: This side up |
