Jim,

I kinda had that same thought for my S2, but I thought that there might have been a slight compromise made vs. a true sport tire. It may be a different compound (slightly harder I would guess), may be more susceptible to cupping for 100% street duty(?). For all I know it may be the cat arse. I was kinda waiting to see what others were postulating. Technically the 180 mm wide tire is not proper for a Cast Buell tube frame wheel (Castalloy, Marchesini, et al) - however, they are proper for the PM wheels on all tube framed Buell's (either spoke style). But I know Bueller's that have a 180 on their back (cast) wheel and have never had a problem. And I just got off the phone with a friend who still works at Buell. Damn! That was one question I didn't ask him about the Ulysses tires.

Larry,

I am running a D207 front & D205 rear. It works great.

After the Calender test, I plan to make it to the picture. So you is going to take the Photo?

Hope to see everyone there.

Jim,

Everything you point out about the Blast is what I like about it. A nimble commuter is what I want, but the rear tire mileage is a concern. I get 5000-5500 out the Nighthawk tires. They last longer on average than the D205 tires on the M2 and they are allot less expensive. I know Avon makes a tire that will fit on a Blast, I will have to check in the Thumper page to see if anyone has any experience with them.

Jim, just say the word and you are. The only other thing we need is your current BRAG national membership number. I thought you were already on the E-Mail list right? I look at that as the current membership. If not, either E-mail me so I can get your membership # or we can do it Sunday.

Carlos, that's what the pre-photo plotting and arguing session is for. C'mon, you Mr.Director of all people know for sure, that it is our way to NOT put too much planning into any of this as it spoils the fun and adventure of it all

So I guess that means we need to find a photographer, got it!

From the Cycle World article on the Ulysses:
Ulysses tires
I guess I was wrong on the tires...But I do know one thing for sure, and that is that Mr. Bunne spells his first name Jon - not John.

Dave - Thanks. I emailed you the info this morning.

Carlos - Two things I forgot to mention. You will love not having to deal with a choke on the Blast. And the bars on the Blast can be turned further than those of the Cyclone, which combined with the weight difference makes it MUCH easier to get the Blast out of a packed garage.

Jim, great pics from the Toy Run, thanks for posting. Enjoyed riding with you very much. Stopped at the Lake on the way back and stopped for a swim....bare assed... hadn't done that for a while. I think it was amusing for those present.

LOL - Mike you're lucky I wasn't there with my camera!

It was great riding with you. I'm glad you found your way back to the lake. After I left, it occured to me that I should have suggested going down 64 to get back to 751.

My daughter is out of town this weekend, so I won't be taking her down to the outter banks. If your planning any more trips with your son, let me know. Tricia and I would enjoy riding with you.

uff . . .

Just found out I'll be working out of town over the weekend which means I won't be available for the picture.

In other news, AMA at VIR is coming up in just 4 weeks. I definitely want to go, just not sure if I'm doing the whole event or just one day. I did hear that they have a deal on a ticket package for the whole event for $99 that includes a t-shirt and a parade lap. Anyone else up for it?

Mike W.- I still have your saddlebags. Let me know when you want them back.

VIR is always good.

Spike, I'm bummed you can not make it to the picture. It seems this weekend we are going to have only four of us there. I haven't received any other responses back so its hard to tell.

As a plan B, I'm thinking we set two dates for the picture. This way if someone can show up this weekend but can not show up later, we can use our friend the computer to graph the entire group together. If we plan ahead, we can set up at the same place so it appears as we are all at the same place, at the same time. Even better with a little luck, we can get everyone in two weeks together. I say we try it, that way we get the best chance of the largest turnout and with a little computer help, make the rest happen.

What you think? If you can not make it this weekend, how about the weekend of 13th & 14th of August.

Jim, I'm thought the turning circle on the Blast was tighter, but I wasn't sure. I have been riding one of the bikes to work just about every day. Today, I realized I hadn't pushed the Nighthawk all day, just rode to work, then lunch, then the back way home, not breaking 80mph the whole way, and really maintaining 60-65mph for the most part. I was enjoying the ride and thought that for commuting, I would enjoy the Blast. I'm really thinking about.

Hey, if it is a digital photo, I can have my father-in-law(he is a photographer) merge the photos...doesnt even have to be in the same place, just same distance from camera and same zoom or some people will not be as clear as others. Larry

Last big event bike racing for the season at VIR, I think...If I'm off from work the 27th,Sat.,I plan on being there for the day. It's a nice backroad trip from Greensboro. Rubberdown, big blue looks pretty good from what I can see. Glad you got cooled off,it was pretty damn hot. I enjoyed seeing the photos of you and U4euh. I finished the concrete slab, and the rear wall will be raised today. Man, materials are so expensive, but having a decent little shop will be nice.Take care guys, hope to see you both soon. Mike

Another ride that is in the Randleman NC area is Kyle Petty's Charity Ride this weekend. Supports the victory junction gang camp there. I personally helped some there and it is a awesome place for sick kids. Larry

Wow - I only posted that picture because I was playing with the camera. But I just noticed something special about it. See the black thing hanging on the wall in the upper right corner? Thats the belt for a Buell Blast. The Blast I used when I took the Riders Edge class. There was this turn where I did not heed their advice about not using the front brakes when leaned over. I removed a turn signal and belt from the bike and some shoe leather and elbow skin from myself. They gave me the belt as a souvineer.

Gramps, As far as I know, we are riding this weekend from Smithfield and plan to meet there Sunday at 11am. The only issue is weather, which doesn't bother me, but may affect the outcome.

I will try to be there Sunday, I don't mind the rain, but I think that will defeat our purpose anyway. Also, my rear tire is getting closer to what Brankin's looked like this past weekend. Mike (Spike) is going to help me out and loan me his rear Stand but he has to work(what a nasty word), poor guy. So I am going to have to watch the tread, especially if wet stuff falls. But I will try to be there. 11 am at Sheltons Smithfields, correct? Larry

Well, today the latest issue of Cycle World was delivered to my mailbox.
Cycle World Ulysses XB12X
I kind of wish I wasn't sent the electronic copy of the article (that I shared with everyone on our E-mail list) because today it kind of seemed like old news.

Personally I can't see how it is remarked that this is the bike to replace the S3-T. I'll openly admit that I am on tip-toes when the rear tire is brand new on my S2, so there is no way I would think of 'replacing' my S2 with a bike with the seat height of the Ulysses. However, there are many features of the Ulysses that I would like to merge with an XB12Ss, hang on a Firebolt front fairing assembly and GO RIDING!

See everyone that will be in Smithfield for the picture tomorrow,

Due to the inclimate weather, the photo shoot at Smithfield has been re-scheduled for August 14th, same time and place.

There's a pretty healthy cell of rain moving toward the Smithfield area from the Fayetteville area that would meet us in time for the photo. That combined with the fact that we were going to have to photo shop two photos to get what we wanted, let's just do it once whan we can get more of us together.

Please let me know if the 14th is bad for anyone,

Dave

LOL - Dave, just got back from the photo shoot. There were 3 of us there. Kristi, took our picture. There was some talk of photoshopping it into the next picture, so it's only raining on the 3 of us.

Carlos - I was blow away that your wife knew my name, both of them at that. I don't think I've ever met her before have I?
