Well, I am sure everyone here enjoyed the build up to the launch of "Buells" 2006 line. I know I did. The next few days, The next few weeks, And into the home stretch of the 2007 Buells unveiling will bring lots of chatter and discussions on everyones favorite Buell board.
My proverbial hat is off to Erik and company, Though I will not be trading in the 03 XB, I am still impressed and happy for all involved. The world can still show great fun and joy through the harshest of times. What a neat thing these motorbikes (All motorcycles) are.
When you break it down, things like this are very important to the sanity of man (and women :} )
May the fun roll on !

Agreed. Kudo's to the Elves. Your talent, dedication, and vision are apparent to those who bother to look. I am even prouder to be riding a Buell today then I was yesterday.

I agree completely. These new bikes are a clear signal that Buell is responsive to the market and knows how to deliver. This XB12X is especially important--- it could very easily outsell all the other Buells combined.

I hope H-D understands and appreciates what a fine asset it has in Buell.

A double edged sword for certain. This bike could reach "Harley-Davidson like" unit sales.

It will be, as others have observed, essential that the Buell paradigm be shattered in marginal dealers. The last thing that HD/Buell needs is someone coming in for a Ulysses test ride and a salesmen trying to convince them they need a Sportster.

This is an incredible bike and will bring many new people. Buell will also be meeting a new problem right in the face....the fact that over the last couple years their products have been the best in the market will make it tougher to move existing customers "up"....Bill, giving up that CityX? . . . I think not.

Many waited for the day when there'd be a GREAT Buell....now we have SEVERAL.

Cool stuff, eh?

I have to agree with Court on the moving up statement. I do find the Ulysses an exciting bike and one that I would like to own as well. Now, the last thing I want to do is get rid if my S3, as well as my 2 H-D's. So being a working guy with 2 teenage kids and my wife wanting to move up from her Blast to a Sportster, trying to find the $$$ to get myself the new Buell will take a while, but I'll get there. It's always good to have something to works towards.

Great Job to Buell on the new design. It's good to see excitement for a Unique Motorcycle Company.

You nailed it Court, as incredible as the Ulysses is, I won't be giving up my CityX, the thing just works too well. And give it up for a Harley? I respect the bikes, but no way in hell.

The last Harley that really tugs at my wallet was last produced between 1950 and 1960 something.

Were my kids graduated, and the wife and I ready for the frequent 2 up weekend cross country trip, maybe I would switch, but that is about 2 decades away yet. In the meantime, it's hard to imagine a bike much better then the 9sx. If I want to ride it to the gap, I will just pack light and wear a backpack, no big deal.

My 9sx with that new tranny is going to be a remarkably good motorcycle as well.

I am looking forward to all the new Buelligans because of the new models. I hope there are lots, though we know what they will have to deal with at the HD shops to buy one. An adventure sport and a long? COOL!

Great thread. I think there are a LOT of riders today seriously discussing Buells that never talked about them before.

I think the Ulysses will result in us soon being able to say "Yea, but I was riding a Buell BEFORE everyone thought they were cool."

I was riding in a cage wishing I could figure out how to work a motorcycle into my life. Glad I finally did.

In '90, my POS 1981 Yamaha XZ550RJ was stored in a barn in Palmer, Texas and I was on a terrible path through life devoid of motorcycling.

I have a picture of Erik Buell and I in 1990....we were kids then.

Funny how time and tide effect people.

He grew up successful, I grew up with great looks.

Oh the irony of it all......

Buells were cool in 1990. I just didn't have the money to buy one.

You remain Erik and my liasion with the "real world".

: )

By the way. . . I keep the 3 page piece you wrote on Buell on my desk for reference. Each and every step, regardless of who initiated it, that you proposed has played out in the route to Buell's success.

Cool.
