Which bolts corroded? That cover bolts? I know my City X ones are still looking good like day 1. I have had to replace the screw that goes on the clip for the oil lines though. I hate living in a salt area. |

I'm trying to get some made, they're like $2.55 from Buell. Hopefully one of our sponsors will be able to sell them once I make them. Stainless just went through the roof, it's going for over $1 a pound right now, more than double from a year ago. |

yeah the ones on you city are silver or stainless the ones on the 12 are black and all of mine have that oh so lovley white corrosion on them as well as the "rust" on all my others the worst one is the t27 on the lower tree that holds I believe the front brake line ., but you really cant see that one like the ones on the cases that are all white and crappy looking |

There is a product called "Naval Jelly" that will clean the corrosion off the bolts. It's this kind of pink goo. Don't get it on paint. Also there is another product from the same company that seals bare metal. It leaves a very thin, clear, almost plastic-like coating. You can spray it on or brush it on. Very similar to stuff we used on airplanes in the Navy called "AMLGARD". It may not be too pretty, but it will deter corrosion until you can get the hardware replaced. |
