If Buell motor Co. does release a dual sport bike (is their a market for a buell dual sport?), and no full fairinged or updated XB-R to compete with other sportbikes (yes like honda, yama, kaw, etc) it's because HD is going to be releasing a HD badged full on sportbike in the near future. This is just a theory I have. I think HD see's the HUGE sportbike scene exploding, and wants a piece of it. HD sportbike, full fairing, high output motor, HD race colors...I want one. |

Isn't that what Buell is? A HD sportbike. Any HD guy that wants a sportbike knows about Buell and that will be the first place they look. Besides, if the v-rod alienated their devoted customer base, what would a sportbike do? |

Sell like hotcakes, at least in Europe? I mean, isn't the European market at least part of the reason they built the VRSCs in the first place? |

Anybody want to post the sales figures for the Yamaha R bikes (R1, R6, yzf) compared to their vstar bikes? I have zero interest in any cruiser built after about 1969, but lets be honest about which market has exploded... |

What was the VR 1000? If not a bike to test the waters for the feasibility of a H-D sportbike and what kind of customer response existed. This bike would end up on a "Where are they now" reunion show. |

sport bike market exploding? what do you mean by that? there already exist R1, gsxr---, zx10, etc each for under 10,000 dollars. why would harley want to play the racer squid replica game? no big profit there. |

In Europe the BMW GS1200 outsells the Yamaha R1 by 2:1. Big adventure bikes are THE bike to have right across Europe and it is really only the UK that is hanging on to the Sportbike myth, although this is changing with the increase in speed cameras etc. Buell have played an extremely clever card by attacking the adventure market. Factors such as top speed and BHP just don't matter in this field, and the market leader also happens to have an air cooled twin cylinder lump in it |

Just the facts: The cruiser/custom market is the #1 segment of the market at 53%, now sport bikes are the #2 segment at 17%. Harley has Buell to fill that niche. The V-Rod wasn't marketed as an alternative to a sport bike, but as something to attract potential customers who wanted more power and technology in a motorcycle than what a typical Harley offers. |

aS WE KNOW the buell is prolly the perfect commuter bike for european type cities and traffic. more power then a scooter and can handle higher speeds. lets face it, where is the majority of the avg every day riding done on ANY bike? below 100 mph and even more so below 80 mph. gas going to 5 bucks in the usa in the next 10 years will be sure to make scooters and fuel efficient bikes more desirable. yes or no? agree or not. |

I don't know Onebuell, a guy on an R1 passed me on the way to work a few days ago on a busy two-lane commuter road doing what I would guess was around 180kph (i.e over 100 mph)in a 60 zone. Go figure...either he's not worried about the cost of fuel, or he's not worried about the cost of coffins... |

Not "dual sport", "Adventure Sport". Not really for off-road, but all-road. |

HEY! Can I use you for a reference on my resumé? I wish I could claim some kind of even small fuzzy insider knowledge. Alas I have none. Just been reading the Buell ad from Sport Rider that has been posted in the topics bearing that title. Check it out... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/4062/128322.html |
