"..in the Land of the Morning Calm..." I spent a year there. I came to think of it as the "Land of Not Quite Right" by the time I left. But I had a great time and made some good friends. Jack |

A "Buell" won the NHRA Pro Stock Bike event this weekend in Colorado. In fact there were four "Buells" and only two "HD VRods" that made it to the first round. I realize there is no "Buell" in this bike, but neither does the HD Screaming Eagle VROD have any "VROD" in it, other than the HD's money behind it. That does not stop HD from issuing flowery press releases every time they do something. Buell has absolutely no NHRA or AHDRA Buell Drag racing news on their website. I believe "Buells" have won three Pro Stock Finals so far this year, compared to HD who has only won once. More people (potential customers) see these events live than a typical FUSA race or even some AMA races, before you add the added exposure of showing these races on ESPN2. Odd that somebody having so much success with a "Buell" gets so little PR from Buell itself. |

Jose, Those "Buell" Pro Stock bikes are running S&S designed/built engines. HD/Buell is suing S&S. There is no connection between those "Buell" teams and the MoCo. Thus, I doubt the MoCo will ever acknowledge their successes, especially when those successes come against the MoCo's heavily backed V'Rods. Frank |

that's because HD owns 98% of Buell in general and 100% of Buell's PR machine specifically, and Willie & Co. do not like the light to shine brighter on Erik than on themselves. also, the Buells in NHRA Pro Stock are not sponsored by Buell, whereas the V-Rods ARE sponsored by HD. that said, cool for the Buells in NHRA Pro Stock. José, how did Chip Ellis do??? |

LOL. Funny but catchy video. Of course it is a Citibank video, not a Buell video, and has nothing to do with the new Buell. |

Chip lost in rd #3 (W) Ryan Schnitz (Team Muzzy Buell) 0.007 7.504 177.70 (L) Chip Ellis (G Squared/S&S Buell) 0.063 7.563 170.36 Ellis and Schnitz have faced each other twice in eliminations, each rider notching a win. Ellis has two NHRA National event wins, one this year and one in 2004. Schnitz won the event in Columbus earlier this year. Schnitz left first and pulled further away at every increment. He will have lane choice over Brown in the final round. See http://www.nhra.com/2005/events/race13/results/sunday_psm.html for all results. Frank |

Don't know if you had seen this magazine but it is/ was one of the best for people who like to ride. "Christian Neuhauser, publisher of Road Runner motorcycle magazine was killed in an accident in Winston-Salem, NC. " http://bmwsporttouring.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=ride&Number=53471 2&page=0&fpart=all http://www.wxii12.com/news/4729351/detail.html http://www.rrmotorcycling.com/mags/frames.html Life is too short. God speed Christian, may the wind be at your back, and the roads twisty. Neil |

Jerry/FTD Yes, the politics behind it explains a lot. What I don't get is why the current "Buell" teams decided to run those bikes as "Buells" as opposed to say, "Victory Hammers" or even "American Ironhorses" etc. The Victory connection would be strong since S&S recently signed on as a "performance parts" supplier for Victory street bikes. I'm baffled that Polaris/Victory has not jumped on this opportunity. There must be some connection/money changing hands behind the scenes so these bikes show the Buell profile & Stickers on the bike? or is it all just aerodynamics? |

JQ, Ain't it the truth. What a shame that H-D buries the success of the Buells in NHRA. There is more in common between a Buell and an S&S bike than there is between a V-Rod and the Vance and Hines bikes. Oh well, so goes the world of PR. |

José, good points all, and i don't profess to know the answers. nonetheless, it's cool when my weekly copy of National Dragster shows up in the mail and there's a Buell on the cover.

I think you nailed it Jose: "or is it all just aerodynamics?" I remember when the SE V-Rods first came out and were struggling some. The one ESPN2 announcer, Mike Dunn, mentioned how their 60 ft and other early times were right on the Suz's but due to being a naked style bike they were sufferring at the 1000 ' mark and on out due to the bad aerodynamics. The Buells have to be better in that regard. Frank |

We still have four BadWeB sponsor passes to Mid Ohio AMA races. All weekend including practice day on Friday and paddock pass is included. A $55 donation to the BadWeB racers fund will have the passes on your doorstep via FedEx in timely fashion. We also have four passes for Road Atlanta. I believe that the VIR passes are already spoken for. See... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/4062/91000.html for donation submission information. |
