I'm poor. That being said, I am planning on doing a majority of my own wrenching. I'm slowly accumulating tools (not many, yet) and a little know-how (thanks to this site). I am going to get a service manual, and then a lift. Seeing as I need to check my timing, the lift has been moved to the top of the list. I only need one that will lift one wheel at a time, both wheels don't need to be off the ground. I've seen some hand operated lifts that are fairly inexpensive, but I cannot remember where I saw them. If any of you are using an inexpensive hand lift for your motorcycle can you let me know what brand/model it is, how well it works, and where you got it? That would really help out a poor bueller.

Sped214...I am surprised no one has mentioned them yet, but the Pit Bulls are great stands (www.pit-bull.com). I really don't remember the price, but you can get them from DAVES. Anyway, highly recommended by anyone that owns a set...or one for the rear only.

Cheap and easy:

bike on jacks

Two import car jacks from the junkyard, flat bar curved to fit the muffler welded to each (with silicon rubber sheet as a cushion).
