I don't think I'm going to lose any of those "sleeps" over this either. I've already lost my local dealer & 3 of the 5 next nearest in the last 6 months. So I don't expect to see whatever it is in the flesh in the near future. Still they say patience is a virtue, it's also an opera, & a game of cards on your own! Oh & Rick_a, before you condemn big adventure tourers, go try a GS1150 Beemer & throw it through some twisties, you'll be surprised! |

I can't do it. I'm just a little guy. If I'm gonna ride a dual sport it's gonna be something I can throw around in the dirt. Anything much more than 350 lbs is useless for that purpose. I hope the other bike is a big bore single! |

"Oh & Rick_a, before you condemn big adventure tourers, go try a GS1150 Beemer & throw it through some twisties, you'll be surprised!" ...at BMW we used to lovingly refer to the GS as BMW's best sportbike...surprisingly adept canyon carver.... |

I think you all underestimate Erik's vision of a dual sport machine http://www.gizmag.com/picture.php?s=16&p=2079_01.jpg |

So who's going to be the first to take one of the new Buells on this ride: http://www.globeriders.com/tours_main_pages/tours_main.shtml I'd love to, except work has got me a little tied up for the next year or so, on a different sort of adventure. |

On vacation traveling east through Birmingham Alabama, I saw for a brief moment on odd-looking motorcycle traveling west on 59 it looked like an oversized Rokon. It was ORANGE and BLACK and the kicker, was it had dual round headlights. Maybe I was at a delusional point in the drive and just want to think it was the new Buell but it was definitely to big and longer to be an XB. Oh well time will tell. V/R, Nick |

Ah, the wonders of Google. Go to www.hogwildracing.com and highlight the almost invisible sand-colored text under the Bartel's logo. The link doesn't work quite yet. |

What the hell is that supposed to be? An off-road Vrod with a sidecar? I need to get some of whatever those guys are smoking! |

The "new" Buell is going to be the tuber X1...I have it on reliable information. I was coming out of the grocery store when I was asked by two homeless guys for some spare change. I said, "OK, but whaddya know worth telling?" That's when they told me that the X1 was the new '06 Buell. I gave them each a quarter and warned them sternly not to play with matches. |

Since I'm recently departed with my VRod, I know about that Revo-powered offroad sidecar creation that is going to Dakar. I can't wait to see it on the SpeedChannel! As to that link that isn't working yet, seems like they know something. |

I have kinda been exploring the market for a Dual Sport bike over the last half year and IF Buell makes one, how will it price against bikes like the DR650 which is MSRP a $4,999? |

It will price (I suspect) slightly above a VStrom (1000) at $8000 out the door, and way below a BMW GS bike at $18000 out the door. |

On the humorous side, I like using Ferris as an indicator. He gets a VFR and Buell makes the XBR. In the last year he has gone through a VStrom (1000) and is now on a FJR1300. Probably no significance at all, but if I were a gambling man.... |

NXTR - I'm betting what you saw was the Honda Ruckus. A big utilitarian looking scooter thing. |

Vstrom 1000 msrp is 8999 + t&F, I believe. Some guy was in the showroom this week talking about how Erik wanted the V-rod motor years ago. It'd be nice to see the motor turn up in the new Ulysses. Or whatever it's being called. |

Not a Vstrom....it will probably be a dual sport. Heck look at the city X compared to the XB it's headed towards the dirt track. Next step? We shall see. Shed some weight lower it a bit and LOOK OUT! Just my 0.02 though. (Message edited by roadrunr on July 17, 2005) |

Buddy at work just bought a vstrom off the dealer floor, got a decent trade in and paid $8000. |

"Buddy at work just bought a vstrom off the dealer floor, got a decent trade in and paid $8000" What you can buy one for, and what they are priced at are two different things. What sense does it make to compare anything besides MSRP when comparing machines? Deals change with the weather, time of year, customer attitude, and market. |
