Ok, as you all know I'm planning a trip to Wisconsin and then to the Gap. I am riding the XB9SX and the seat if nice and comfortable except that I get monkey butt. I was wondering what some others who have taken long trips have done or used to help prevent this problem? I do have the Anti Monkey Butt powder but have yet to use it. Any help would be gladly accepted.

Ryan get yourself a couple good pairs of bicycle shorts. They have padding in butt to help for longer rides.I've worn them under my leathers and they work great.

Amen to the weasel squeezers (spandex biking shorts). Dont add anything to them (underwear, jeans, whatever) that has any kind of stiched seam.

For long trips, I wear just them and armored ballistic cordura pants. It makes a HUGE difference.

Thanks, I'll take a trip out to a bike shop and look at those. They sure seem to keep getting recommended.

Something I have noticed. I find we get a lot of heat from the engine though the seat. Was wondering about maybe getting a heat shield for the seat right around where the fan blows out to help block it and keep it cooler. That work maybe?

What about that Monkey Butt power? Good also?

When BMW first started making the K-bikes, heat from the engine would warm the gas tank to uncomfortable levels. They started installing a kit which was a thin sheet of insulation with aluminum foil on the engine side and a sticky backing on the tank side. It helped. Anything you can do to reflect the heat or deflect the hot air will help.

Cataract2 try a Roho Airhawk seat pad. It disperses your weight evenly with no pressure points. It stops all vibration transmitted through the seat. The biggest anti-Monkey Butt prevention is the air that flows around the air cells through the open weave pad cover so your clothes don't damp. They have a pad to fit almost any seat configuration.

Those are a little cheaper than a Corbin seat, has anyone used both and has a comparison? They look sort of stange on their webpage http://www.rohoinc.com/recreational/products.jsp because they are shown as only partially covered. I'm wondering if that is only for display purposes there and they are fully covered in the real world?

they've got a cover in the real world, and their pretty darned comfy -- if the weasel squeezers don't do the trick entirely, it's a good way to go, and easily reversible/portable from scoot to scoot
