S1H Why are you wasting time collecting an air compressor? You're a strong guy. Use a socket and flex bar. The front mount bolts are secured with red loctite. You will need to heat them up with a torch then break them free with the socket and flex bar. Make sure to thoroughly clean the bolts prior to re-using them. All proceedures required to re & re your engine can be accomplished with hand tools. I'd be all over coming to help if I had more notice. Now get to it! Cheers FunJimmy |

This one is unusual, hence the posting of it here: Basically, guy on HD kits 600lb Elk, Elk wins, HD driver separates from bike then he's run over by a truck. I heard on the news just a while ago that they found the injured Elk and it had to be dispatched. Sad day for man and elk. Stay safe everyone. Motorcyclist Killed In Collision With Elk, Truck Animal Escaped Into Woods WARRENTON, Ore. -- A 50-year-old motorcyclist was killed Tuesday night in a collision with an elk and a pickup truck. It happened about 10 p.m. on Highway 101 near Warrenton. Darrel Allen Lyons was southbound near milepost 8 when he struck an elk trying to cross from east to west. He crashed his 2001 Harley Davidson, fell onto the roadway and was struck by a southbound 2005 Chevrolet truck. Lyons died at the scene. The Seaside man was wearing a helmet. The truck's driver, a 41-year-old from Cannon Beach, was not injured. The animal ran into the woods and was not located. Highway 101 was shut down for several hours during the police investigation. |

I have heated the nut to around 400 Degrees with a heat gun and tried to get it off too, no good. So unfortunatly the last chance was for anton to come out, which he isnt (says he has his kids again) or for jim to come over, and he is also now not calling me back...So.... I hate to say it, but we will not be able to attend splash this year!! after about 4k spent, I cant even begin to tell you of my pain.... |

I will have some time after the honeymoon. That nut should not be that stuck, you should get another because it may be damaged by removal. I think the engine mount bolts are to be replaced whenever they are removed anyway. |

I ended up having to just work around it. The motor is in. I think, I had no help so I "winged it". I had already called to see if Paradise had the parts, and of course they don't. I was just going to try to cut the nut off or the bolt and replace but... Should I not try it this way?? I need some major help tho still to be able to get it all done in time. Im going to call tomorrow and see if I can get some help. for now tho I am going to bed |

Have a good SPLASH everyone! Can't make it this year, oh crap. But I hope everyone has a good time, stays on the road and avoids all encounters with the local peace officers. The weather looks fantastic and St.Helens looks inviting. Oh and don't forget ..... you suck! |

BBQ at Woodland was great, thank you Chris and Lonnie again for putting it on. It was good to see everyone, a smaller crowd then usual, but still most of my favorites were there. Didn't get to see BIG STEVE oh yeah and Minister Steve but then again I will get to see them in a week out at the track..... Looking forward to Border Raid already, hopefully by then I will be able to keep my pants on, or is that off? What was that you asked me to bend over and spell Bob? R U N ???? Have a great day of riding on Sunday and everyone tell me all about your ride, so I (My brother Matt - first one missed in how many years? And well Spudman too) can live vicariously through you! Kimberlie ps..... so good to see D-wange and Lisa at the lake, keep up the speedy recovery and all the hard work D - man. Brandon- hope your progress is also coming along well. pps..... favorite T-shirt of course was sported by Shaun/Shane (you say potato I say potato?) "If you can read this the BIT.H fell off!" I'm just sitting in front of my mom's computer waiting for news from SPLASH. My parent's 50th anniversary party was nice, just so you know, but I was imagining all the debauchery that I was missing! Let's see photos and read stories with all haste people! |

I need to know what if anything to order, so it can been here when the swingarm gets here. I am going to take the old one off here in the next few days if I get a chance. Thanks again Jimmy for the hookup on the swingarm.. |

Hi all, hope you had a great SPLASH! We want to hear stories too since we were also not able to make it this year. We had the beemer all packed and ready to go but then I woke up Friday morning with vertigo... probably not a good condition in which to ride a motorcycle, I thought. Starting to feel better now but still have to be careful how fast I turn my head it's kind of like being drunk with no alcohol... pretty weird. Anyway, let all us wanna be's know about the route and the ride and what fun you had and we hope to see you down the road! M&L |

SPLASH 2005! Great times had by all! The weather was perfect and the day was incident free! Nobody got lost , nobody broke down or went down. Did anyone count the bikes before leaving the park Sat morning? I am guessing about 25 (?). Sorry that Chris and I did not make it Sunday. He woke up with a sore back. We both also had a ton of crap to get done before the race next weekend. Sat night eating delivered pizza in the parking lot of the Lakeside Motel was great times. I can't wait to make the reservations for Border Raid this year. Penticton will never be the same! I hope that you all made it home Ok. Duane it was nice seeing you up and around. Take care of the foot and maybe we will see you at Border Raid? Loni |

Splash lives! I am glad to report that the marriage of my gorgious daughter Alice to some guy named Mike went perfectly. They choked up and I was the Rock! Got them thru to the end. It was awesome. I was so afraid that emotion would overcome me, but I stayed strong and cried when it was over. See you at the races, and at Border Raid. |

What a ride! I'm happy to report that the Canucks all made it home safe. (Presuming John's fine, as he went on ahead.) Highlight of the weekend: a feast worthy of Thanksgiving at Lisa and Dwayne's for the lucky few who stopped in to admire their new ranch. And a fabulous ranch it is! Jim, Shawn, John, Craig, new-guy Keith and I started out Friday morning on the I5 to Tacoma, then cut over to do Mt. St. Helen's in reverse. Finished in time to arrive at a decent hour at Woodland to enjoy the BBQ that Chris and Loni so marvelously put together again. Great to see everyone. 20 bikes set out in the morning. I know this 'cause I saw Mike count them before leading the group on its way. We eliminated the backroad route out of Woodland due to reports of crappy pavement. Since we were returning to Woodland for a second night, we were all able to travel light. A great idea. We all took the turn-off to the one-lane goat-trail. Not much gravel this year, but a bit. Through Trout Lake and Klikatat(?), back down the Hood River, then north to Carson and beyond, up those wonderfully engineered switchbacks. With no break-downs or mishaps or tickets (although we passed far too many cop-cars!), we had time enough for a small group incuding Peter(Redhatbuell) and his lovely Ginelle(?) and a few others to investigate the Ape Caves (a mile long lava tube tunnel). Then back to woodland for anopther great social. Visits with those who couldn't ride: Brandon(S1Hooligan) and Tracy, Dwayne and Lisa. Hope o see both of you guys back on the road toute-suite. Returned north by doing the Mount again, brews at Bob and Debs, the aforementioned feast at Dwayne and Lisa's, and home by 11:30. Passed a sobering bike-down on Highway 9 north of Seattle with four cop-cars in attendence. Didn't look good. AFAIK, there were no mishaps. The only mechanical problems didn't interupt the riding: Galen's exhaust stud fail was found to be failed at Bob's, but he rode it home. And my header has cracked at the front mount. Just found that this morning doing the washing. Dang! Anywhoooo. That's the short version. Someone else can provide the details. The plan for Border Raid is to pass on Vancouver and Whistler and stay two or three nights in Penticton and do some circuits around the Okanagan area. Details to follow. |

Wow Eric. Way to go! I’ve been waiting to post with all the fun and glory but you’ve already said it all. All except…the best SPLASH ever? Quite possibly, YES! Chris and Loni have again; served up the best BBQ you could ever hope to ride into, and the social that followed was exactly as you’d expect of this group. Great! Although the group was smaller than last year, its amazing 20 riders can traverse those incredible roads in such tight formation. We really can’t let this fizzle out. SPLASH 2010 and beyond. Duane & Lisa it was great to see you both this SPLASH. Eric said it best. We really appreciate your friendship. Brandon: I hear that you are recovering pretty well. Wish you where there. Don’t miss next year! Cheers Bud. S1H: The swingarm comes with the bearings and the axle adjusters. Isos and any other hardware were used to upgrade my S1. I’ll send you the tracking number on Wednesday. Bib: You’d be bummed if you where there this year. It really SUCKED! Sun and heat you really wouldn’t want to be in, and the roads…. boring GREY! Where’s the colour in that! Maybe we’ll let you come next year and have a look. FunJimmy |

Good Roads + good weather + good riders = good fun! Thanks to those who did their part in organizing the ride! My adventure through the interior of Washington went well, I took a few of the back routes, but mostly went north on the 97. The temperature varied, but I think it topped 95F in spots. Good thing most of the Sunday traffic was heading south. One question ... in Washington, can a Fish and Wildlife officer write a speeding ticket? I safely passed a pickup after noting the lights in the back window, but when I passed another couple of vehicles he followed and pulled me over! He said he was going to let me get away with a warning, but I should keep my speed down ... "Thank you, sir" I replied and was on my way with him following until a Harley passed by us and the lights were flashing again! Hope that rider was as lucky as I was. I think the badge gave the dude a 'tude! John |

Johnboy, In Washington a State Fish and Game Officer is pretty much the same as a State Troop only with additional duties. In fact, they both attend the same academy. Glad everyone had a good time, wish I could have been there. Paul |

Thanks Paul, I took the risk, but now I know that I might've made the wrong choice. I think that twice now, my "...speedometer doesn't have MPH..." might have helped me! From what I have heard, if your nailed, they don't usually let you go. BTW, on Sunday at Cougar, WA, another biker mentioned the following website with great ride videos: www.linesthemovie.com John |
