Finally fitted a K&N instead of the foam sock I had before. Final tract length is exactly the same as standard and the whole thing fits under the standard air-box cover. With a bit of creative carving of the airbox floor I could have got the standard box in. Now I just need to get back on the dyno but maybe I'll think about a double flow-nipple for inside the filter lid! Anybody got an idea of the best shape, eg Marilyn or Madonna? Rounded ends? Pointed? |

I would really liked to have had two long Hillborn-style stacks poking out of the tank cover but needed a filter for peace of mind. |

This is a raw data extrapolation of the first dyno run with a massive air leak. What throttle body, manifold are you using? Any pix of those? Great job!! Best wishes on getting it sorted out. |

Thanks a lot. I had a speculative play with the laptop tonight and adjusted the tickover but then the old problem of the motor not slowing down staright away when the throttle was shut reared its head and a spray of WD round the inlets seemed to affect tick over a bit, suggesting an air leak. This time all the nuts and allens are tight so I'm at a bit of a loss. Maybe there is a technique to fitting the inlet rubbers and tightening the fasteners? Any gurus care toenlighten me? When I turned the idle up to 1050 rpm on 05 City X, it did the hang up at 2000 rpm before returning to idle. Went for hour ride anyway, it sorted itself out by the time of return,has not done it since. ECM learn time,self adjusts,. Good Luck , hope you get it sorted. |

Martin, Two things likely on your idle. One is that XB's are really sensitive to idle adjustments, and if it is just a bit too high, the rpms will hang and you will see the slow return to idle. Second, since you moved your TPS to the new tb, you likely need to reset the TPS. The first thing I would do, is turn the idle way down, and see if the slow return still happens. |

When I get chance to get back in the garage at a time of day when it won't wake my neighbour's teething baby that's just what I'll do. I already had the TPS reset and everything was ok till I upped the tickover, so that sounds like the answer. I have an independent air bleed on this T/B so I can use that rather than the throttle stop if I need to. |

Lowered tick-over and ran bike for a couple of minutes over 3500 rpm on local motorway. problem solved. Thanks guys |
