Maybe I'm crazy (my close friends will ignore the "maybe" ) but I think an XB enduro-venture-tourer would be sorta cool with a mildly bashed up frame. I'd put it up there with boogered tires on your street bike and road rash on your track bike. It's merely a sign that the bike was put to good use. |

Hey guys I am new to Buell and currently own a xb12s. I love the bike but I also would like to add a sport tourer to my stable. I am waiting to see what Buell comes out with before I make my choice. I was thinking of what they might come up with for a sport tourer. There has been talk before of jamming a vrod engine in the xb frame, but what would you guys think putting the vr1000 engine in there? I think that engine had around 130 hp and rev to 10000. Seems it would make up for the extra weight on a st with a bigger xb and bags. Anyway one can dream huh? I hate waiting!!!!!! Sorry guys just read the history on the how the vr1000 motor turned into the vrod motor. Didnt know that. (Message edited by bigeasy on July 14, 2005) |

Yup, and it would be SO easy to make a new VR1000 bike with the VRod motor, and I would SO buy one! I had a VRod, nice motor, but I found I am not a "cruiser" type, and the Street Rod is to big/heavy. |

I still say the VR 1000 is perhaps one of the prettiest bikes made. I like that other Vtwin powered bike with the carbon fibre frame. I am sorry I forgot the guys name that built the bike and he passed away sometime ago. I think the guy was from Austrailia but, not 100% sure. Regards Mike |

Spike...You are so spot on. A DP Bike without any battle scars may as well be in a museum. Ergo, DP Bikes are often referred to as "Dirty Street Bikes." |

I don't think your crazy (maybe I'm a bad judge of sanity level or maybe your right on my level of sanity), but you hit the nail on the head! A real rider's bike (isn't that what Buell's are all about), not some poser's touring bike that get's trailered to Bike Week. Ulysses...hmmm...I'd be surprised if it will be called that. But then again I've been wrong on occassion (or was I mistaken?). Case in point, when I first read 'Biff Malibu' above it sounded like a male porn star name... 1313 |

I got weepy seeing that VR1000. Hopefully HD will make that bike, since they have been saying that more bikes in the VRod line are coming. |

If any of you get to see the Harley travelling museum this summer, it currently has a VR 1000 in the display. I need to get to Barber someday soon, it looks great. |

Dual sport? Adventure touring? The first is usually applied to dirt bikes modified sufficiently to be street-legal. The second is given to street bikes that have better-than-average bad-road/jeep-trail capabilities. The best of the adventure tourers (BMW R12GS, Cagiva Grand Canyon) also make superb twisty pavement bikes. The average to better-than average rider can almost always go quicker on them on a mountain road than he could on a GSX-R600, and certainly faster than on a GSX-R1000. A great rider may go a little faster on a pure racer replica, but he'll be working a lot harder doing it, and the small race replica advantage will vanish with even a slightly degraded road surface. In any case, I'm sure any new Buell (should any such bike exist) is far more likely to emphasize "adventure" over motocross-like berm-bashing capabilities.

As long as such a bike (should it exist) had enough room and ergo adjustability to be long distance comfy, good luggage options, plenty of light and electrical power for accessories, and nice LD options such as heated grips, higher windshield etc. Henrik |

There are supposedly two new Buells in the works. Allegedly one will be an adventure tourer. That is open to interpretation, though, I'm sure. |

Christmas in July will be coming soon. Can't wait to see what shows up under the tree. Adventure tour vs sport tour vs something else; hard bags vs soft bags; bigger seats vs no change; taller wider bars vs no change; more wind protection vs less; more ground clearance vs no change...and these are just a few of the wonderful things they have to play with. Too bad I am still old, stubborn and dumb enough to want a street tracker that looks like one at an affordable production price. Now that's what I would call "Unobtainium." LOL |

How soon after July 23rd, will bikes be in the dealerships? I planned to get a 12GS but decided to wait and see what Buell was going to offer. If this is a big enough bike to adventure tour on, my dreams will have come true! |

If it's an Adventure tourer, then it's going to have hard bags. I can't think of any A-T bike that doesn't have them (BMW GS, Triumph Tiger, KTM Adventurer, etc).What's the second bike going to be? will it be more of a "Standard"? Will the bags fit on it? I don't consider the City X a replacement for the M2; it's too small. I couldn't get my daughter to even sit on the back of one in a showroom, let alone go for a ride. I guess I'll find out next week. |
