I bought it from a Honda dealer (1997) who got it as a trade in that they didn’t quite know what it was with only 700 miles on it. The Dentist original owner had Screaming Eagle cams, carb, ignition, K&N filter, and the oil cooler off the RSS model installed prior to leaving the dealership! The automotive temp gage is the only visual clue to modification. HP was raised from 65 to probably 85 at the pavement to push the 450 lb. Beast. The open cone Supertrap at that RPM sounds just like a Harley (XR750 on the front straight of the Mile). Not a bad second fiddle to Duc music. At 4500 in top ,exactly 100 mph, it is totally vibration less. At a stop at the loping idle it becomes almost transparent! It is very entertaining! The 150 mph gearing gives 65 mpg! My step dad was showing off at a bike rally in 1999 after it won in the Sportbike category. A 85 hp enema and grassy wheelie/both high and low slide/ all in a very tight circle lead to the damages. Broken nose faring, mirrors, blinker stalk and right side faring part. I got Airtech in Calif. To make new parts from the original moulds, got Gustaffsan to send a NOS shield, replaced the bent rear brake lever with a NOS part. All it needs now is fitting, handlebars, grips, paint/decals. Time to get busy or bail out. I thought about keeping it and painting it half Black with a white decal on the left and HD orange on the right with a black decal, the 3” white stripe goes between them in the middle HD racing team style. It would confuse the heck out of the local Cops. “There goes that black Buell, then here comes an orange one!”. Maybe it should just be original colors? With $4500 I can get an old pre 84’ Airhead boxer and a dirt bike. That is what it would take to get it from me. Anyone up for a Buell project? Drop me an e-mail for hi-res pics. It runs and rides fine. One front fork is weepy and the rear brake needs flushing. Only 4501 miles.

I believe Dan's been trying to sell his non-wrecked one for that price for several months. He ought to chime in here shortly. > Does it fold back for a back rest for the passenger and your handle is "oldbike"? Yes. See profile. (oops, picture was changed. Never mind) |

Yeah they are very cool and exclusive bikes (312 made forever? 30 in 1992, 6 in this color). Just not yet discovered. As soon as I finally sell mine they will certainly achieve the status of the Vincent Black Shadow! LOL. That is my luck. If nobody bites I'll just fix it and ride. Custom HD racing two tone or original? Bulliedan have you checked our Air-tech's tanks etc. The bodywork is lighter than stock but they can fashion anything you want. It just takes money. |

Rex, The top dusty bike is the nice shiney one in it's current condition. I live near Searcy, Arkansas. No stickers, laminations etc. ever bubbled on mine. The three parts I have from Air-tech are shown in the top photo. The rear RSS section (currently available from Ait-tech too) should bolt right up. The bike does have the RSS oil cooler that the original RS's didn't have. The color is Gunmetal Gray which 6 were produced in 92'. No leaks at all. It only has 4501 miles on it all but 700 are mine. |

From comparing my RS and RSS it looks to me like an RSS tail section is a straight bolt on to an RS frame. The one problem is that the RS has the passenger peg mounts permanently attached so it would look kinda weird having only one seat but passenger pegs. Waterboy, My bodywork is in perfect condition so I don't need anything from Airtech. My leaks are the shock and forks and an oil leak coming from the oil filter mount which is an easy fix. Hmm seems to be a glut of RSs right now. Here's one on eBay it's in the Harley Davidson section and he says "Eric Buell" signed it and the only one he knows like it is in a museum in Vegas... $8.5k start price and the most miles I've seen on an RS (30k). |
