I've only used the 20w50 once. I've been using the 15w50 car oil for years now. |

15W50 does everything that 20W50 does, and flows better at lower temps. |

Castrol has a nice 5w50, and it was the same price as the Mobil 1 15w50. I am running it now, seems good. |

What Johnny said. Easier for the oil to flow, but the same amount of protection. Tramp- you're right but I can't find it in a suitable application. |

there is very little difference between the two SAE specifications. 15W and 20W are very close, and their range of tolerance actually overlap. how often do you start your motorcycle at 0 degrees fahrenheit? that is the exact temperature at which the "W" specification is measured. |

how often do you start your motorcycle at 0 degrees fahrenheit? Every day there is no snow or ice. I love my electric jacket liner and will be going for electric overpants this year. Oh, and the heated hand grips are nice as well. |

for several winters i started my buell at 0oF and below, daily. the 15w40 rotella worked fine for me, as i'd said, i'm anal about warm-up, and in THAT weather I leave it choked for a good 5-10 minutes.... 2 min. warmup, then looooooooooooooooooow rev riding @ full choke for awhile.... |

Tramp Shell makes a very nice syn, Rotella T in a 5W-40. Great for winter. |

Rotella full syn 5W-40 is just fine in the Duc and the S2...really, really nice in the Jeep! Just feels like the lighter weight takes a load off the lower end... ...meets all the SJ/SL rating requirements |

I use Rotella Synth 5W40 in all my bikes. My XB runs cooler with it (solely judged by the frequency with which the cooling fan runs). |

I run Wesson. That way if I'm trapped somewhere I can at least deep fry whatever I manage to kill. Wouldn't want to be lost without that fried food! |

"Brucelee - you always yell at me when I suggest Rotella Synt 5W40" Johnny, If I lived in COLD winter climes, I would use it then. However, I am not comfy with it year around. BTW-Here in SOCAL, it rarely gets as low as 50 F so I use 15W-50 all year around. Do use the Rotella in the Porsches though! |

Brucelee- I hear you, but with most of my riding between 60-80 deg. I am comfortable using the 5W40. |

I use 20W50 Harley oil year round, and my M2 starts at -8 F and the engine runs fine. OTOH, the trans feels stiff and shifts like it's full of roofing tar for the first few miles. |

Mobil still makes V-twin 20W-50 full synthetic, but it's not that easy to find. http://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Oils/Mobil_1_V-Twin_20W-50.aspx You can go here: http://clients.mapquest.com/mobil1/mqlocator?link=find and see if anyone near you stocks it. |

whodom well at least they make it.............as for everybody else, dont trust the site. Autozone walmarts and advance do not carry it anymore around ft wayne and power sports went out of business, so out of thier 5 possibilitys im still out of luck for it. on second thought looking at the price to buy online its 9.90 each or 12.75 , I think ill use something else. Mmmi_grad, Yea, Mobil's locator thingy is pretty lame. I've never seen the motorcycle oils in a WalMart here but it shows them all as stocking them. Locally, my Autozone does carry it, after a brief period when they dropped it. I e-mailed both Mobil AND Autozone and complained, and I got a response back from Autozone that they'd look into it. Next time I went in my local store, they had the V-twin 20W-50 back on the shelf. |

Also gone in some parts of N.Y. 600 miles in 2 days went to go get some more and was told they wont carry it anymore. Been to numerous places and get same response. Any suggestions on a replacement? |
