I looked in the knowledge vault but had no luck. On my way home from the Buell homecoming in June I lost power on my X1. Once I got it into the shop I was told that I had snapped the butterfly valve on the induction module. It is in the shop still awaiting new, expensive part. Is there any input on how this could have happened and is it really going to cost me over $500? |

It's a known occurrence Eric. Try a search on Throttle body. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=21&post=199347#POST19 9347 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=4062&post=456778#POST 456778 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=21&post=255399#POST25 5399 It happened to me riding back from Torque-Fest. The new throttle body runs around $105 DAve |

Thanks for the help. I talked to service manager about possible options. He said I had scored the entire thing and needed to replace the induction module for $385.00 plus labor. It looks like I'll be working a little bit of overtime very soon. |

With my 1000 mile screwdriver, :-) I'd say ya really don't need the induction module assy (item 7 - p/n 27232-99YB or update) You simply need the Throttle Body Assy (item 15 - p/n 29536-99YA or update) There's really nothing in that whole assembly to 'score' other than the throttle body. He's selling you the whole assembly including intake manifold, throttle position sensor, seals, air intake horn, and possible even fuel rail/injectors, etc) It appears the old shotgun maintenance to me. Easier for them...more $ too. I'd like dibs on the parts they take off DAve |

Agreed, number 15 in the diagram above is all you should need. Good call Dave. I don't know if you can buy just the throttle body. |

It looks like I'm stuck under the H/D thumb. I'm not mechanically inclined enough to do it myself, so for now i'm at the mercy of dealer. I'm not happy that I suggested to service manager that I might just need throttle body and he insisted I need the complete module. Looks like I'll be looking for a service manual very, very soon. After my checkbook recovers. |

Look- your profile says you're in IOwa. i have no idea how far you are from Appleton Wis., but I'll bet it's worth the trip. don't d&ck around with your local HD dealer, they might be fine fopr some HD applications, but.... just get to appleton |

Its about 9 hours by car. It may be worth the trip for good service and a good dealer but I have to do what i can. I wish this happened while I was there for the homecoming. I was about 30 min from home when it started up. |

Go to the parts counter, have them order the throttle body, and take it to the service counter when the service manager isn't there. -OR- Talk to the general manager. I'm sure that'd set him straight. |

I don't seem to accesorise enough or spend enough on my bike because even to any form of management Buellers are not as important. Just seems to be commonplace around central Iowa. Maybe I could get a big bore kit and a huge windshield and enough H/D t-shirts for every day of the month to make myself noticed. |
