i have recently added a forcewinder xr2 to my 2000 x1...and that eliminates the lower fairings..aka "breadbox"...i'm not totally satisfied with the way the tank looks now..it did suffer some scratches from a laydown..but that's not the real issue..i've seen the carbon fiber accent pieces u can buy..and the good ones are expensive as hell...i'm just curious if there is an aftermarket one-piece metal tank i would be able to find...one that compensates for the "flat bottom" look of the stocker...i would prefer metal but cf or fiberglass would work if i see the rite one...or do any of u badwebbers fab custom tanks that would be compatible with my x1?? i like the sportbike look of my buell and have no desire WHAT SO EVER,to make it a chopper...lol...so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...i'm almost done with the repairs to atleast get me back on 2 wheels...but i'm possibly tearing it down this winter to have the frame sprayed red,,from black...and would like to have a new, paintable, tank waiting for the repaint...thanx all...prez |

Buy the cheap ones and dry fit them, then paint with crinkle black to match your engine? X1 has an all black engine doesn't it? I haven't seen many options. Just my opinion, FWIW, I think it would look tough. -Mike |

Lifted this off of UKBEG's Photo Gallery. It is from a Brit shop. See the following link and then the picture. http://www.northantsvtwin.co.uk/ This was in an earlier post.

All the stock tank covers should be the same, they made virtualy no changes to bodywork on the X1. So I would think the one they are selling should help. |

I emailed Northantsvtwin about the tank cover they do for the X1. After an initial response, they never gave me a price. Then I lost interest. I think I'm going with the standard setup for eliminating the big black plastic stuff. |
