Sorry if this is redundant but I'm having problems finding any specific threads to these questions. I'm in the market for a used XB9s and the 2003's seem to be at a huge discount than the 04's (even with less miles and more aftermarket stuff). I'm aware of SOME of the issues not corrected in the 2003's (wheel bearings, belt problem, horn wire/bracket, etc), but do all these items really justify the huge mark down between it and the 04? Can't you simply address these items with newer parts? Do the cogs have the same belt pitch as the 2004 pulleys? Couldn't you just buy a newer/better replacement belt when it does break? Don't they have wheel bearings that retrofit into the 03 and solve that problem? Any thoughts concerning why I should concentrate on getting a 2004 would be appreciated, along with any other general thoughts to consider as I buy one of these XB9s'. Also, I had a 98 S1W with a bunch of electrical snafu's and other problems so straight up advice on these new buells would be so very much appreciated as I swore I would never buy another Buell again, but I really like the new XB9s'. Thanks, Shawn |

I believe that the '04's came with an additional year warranty. The '03 has a one year warranty and the '04 has two years. |

No, you can't put an '04 belt on a '03 without changing All the pulleys. But there is an upgrade belt for the '03 that runs around $150. |

If you purchase a new left over 03 XB now you'll get two years. |

DaveS or Clown can get any upgrade parts you need for the '03. My '03 XB9S has had no problems and I have just completed the 10K service myself. Stone Mtn Buell shipped an upgrade belt and gaskets and I was good to go. The Buell haters club will shortly be chiming in but again I have had no problems. YMMV DBird |

Can't you simply address these items with newer parts? Yes, for the most part, it is that simple. Couldn't you just buy a newer/better replacement belt when it does break? Yes, there is a newer/better replacement belt for the 03' models; but, it is not the same as an 04' belt. Not sure about the warranty issue. I bought my 03' XB9SL in Sept. 04', and only have a one year warranty from date of purchase. ..but I really like the new XB9s'. Me Too!! Good luck to ya, and welcome. tank |

Well I'm glad I searched for '03 drive belts. Totally forgot I upgraded the sprockets for the '04 and up belt. Thanks past me! |
