Yeah, I know this is a Buell board and no, I havent owned a Buell in over a year but I still lurk! Was thinking about a CityX until I checked with insurance company! Saw a pic of a Breva 750 and it's kind of cool looking. http://www.motoguzzi-us.com/bikes/breva/index.html Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with a Guzzi? Yeah, its a little down on power but I'm not a real aggressive rider anyway. |

Geese gots lots of soul, and folks that ride em tend to keep em forever, which is high praise as far as I'm concerned -- I know an owner, and he loves his bike to pieces I'd be a bit leery of buyin a new goose until the ownership and viability of the brand settles down a little -- but that's just me ;-} |

Check your local dealership options for support or parts and service. My nearest is about 100 miles away for a 'Guzzi. This one looks interesting:

My wife went from her second Blast to a 750 Breva. She absolutely loves it. I'm impressed enough that I'm thinking pretty strongly about the Breva 1100 that's coming out later this summer. Back in the '70s, I owned a V7 Sport and an 850T. They were reliable as anvils. If you like Buells, you'll probably enjoy a Guzzi. There are a lot of similarities. Find a dealer that will let you take a test ride, then draw your own conclusions. |

The Guzzi to Buell comparison is an interesting one. I owned a 1000SP at one point and the bike that reminds me the most of it is my S2. They have the same mechanical "presence", the same way of coming to life with a Vtwin cough and bark, but the S2 has a good bit more power and the tranny shifts a whole bunch better. I saw my old Goose the other day, the new owner (who loves to rub in how much he likes the bike every time I see him) made some changes and the bike looks really good. |

The Breva is a nice bike - well finished, fairly smooth for a Guzzi and handles decent. The 750 isn't a sporting bike as the suspension is pretty soft, but it has enough oomph to get about and the brakes are pretty good. A nice laid back bike for simply riding and much less "intensive" than the Buell. |

Guzzi vs. Buell The Guzzi dealer folded before I could take a test drive on a V11 Naked, so I got the XB9S. Both are unique which is what I wanted. I hope we see a Guzzi dealer again in Salt Lake City but I doubt that will happen. DBird |

I took the Breva for a ride last year at Daytona and was not impressed with the power and yes it was soft on the suspension also. But I look at it as a conventional bike and not a sport type bike. Then I hopped on one of Moto Guzzis 1 liter sport bikes and was impressed. Just my 2 cents worth. |

The Breva has some interesting technical features, but the tacky styling leaves me cold. |

Well, I picked up the Breva last saturday. After 500 miles, I gotta say I like it. Ergos seem pretty close to a Lightning. Pretty smooth engine now that its getting broke in. Yeah, its down on power but I love when people say "a Moto what?" Even more rare in this area than a Buell. Dealer is 90 miles away but we just lost another "local" Buell dealer so could be the same eventually. Still miss my Firebolt sometimes but I think I can live with my little italian! |

I owned a Guzzi dealership in the early 90's and put over 150,000 miles on them. Guzzis are nearly impossible to kill but lots of little problems can make ownership aggravating at times. They're both fun marques; figure Buell for backroads, Guzzis for sweeping corners. Still have my old LeMans IV if that tells you anything. One thing to bear in mind: Italian parts are REALLY expensive! |

Yeah, found that out when ordering the hard bags for it. $579 for the bags, $200 for the little painted inserts to match the bike! They are really nice Hepco Becker bags though. Aftermarket is even slimmer for Moto Guzzi as it is for Buell! |

Believe it or not, those are really reasonable prices for hard bags. Try pricing bags for a BMW or even the kit for an S3.(And Buell has some of the best parts prices in motorcycling). However, Hepco & Becker make some really good bags. |
